That would be a BT Openreach job, I think.

They have a free number where you could contact them and ask:-

The phone line running to my master socket runs over the front step and then out the back it's attaches to the front of the step so people keeps stepping on it.

So that should not be chargeable, since it's upstream from the master socket. You'd have to persuade the OR engineer that it was badly installed.
You can't contact OR directly, you need to report the fault to your line rental provider.

For FTTC install there should be no need for an engineer install: or home visit you plug in the router yourself , OR connect you at the street cab. They will only attend the property if there is an issue and they need to check at your master socket.

So, as Martin has mentioned, you can get Nowtv fibre broadband for the equiv of 16.67/mth for 12 mnths. (20 quid/mnth + 50quid cashback)

Apollogies as my pound sign key doesn't work

Now on NowTV website they are doing broadband + sky sports for 40quid/mth (20 for each service)
but they also do a 10 month Sky Sports season pass for 179 quid (17.90/mth)

So if you got them seperatly i.e. Martin deal of 16.67/mth + season pass 17.90/mth = 34.57/mnth for the ten months and then 16.67 for two months after the sports finished.

    Hope that makes sense

Call them. Caller ID costs £1 pm at present, but I've heard that it will be mandatory for all suppliers to offer it for free in October.
