Morning
,
I'm up bright and early as it is hot (but not complaining). I'm on leave today and Monday as I'm going to England to sister so taking today as a flexi day and just pootering. Heading to beauticians for 11 and then meeting a friend for lunch. It will not be so relaxed tomorrow morning when I have to be up at early o'clock to catch a flight.
Yesterday I attended a women's leadership event and it was fantastic. I didn't expect a lot from the event but I feel I got so much out of it. I attended a class on improving presentations (I hate them) and also empowerment. It was held in the Titanic centre and I got to see the famous Titanic stairs. It was such a beautiful day in a lovely place. Now all I have to do is take what I learned and put into practice.....easier said than done:).
I'm only in work 3 days next week and then the following week we have the 12th holidays (2 days public hols). Hopefully after that I will have an interview for new post.
Money front - bank account always looks lovely and healthy at start of month before all the direct debits go whizzing past. Will enjoy it for a bit.
Think i will see if it is cool enough for a run with pup to start my day0 -
Morning:wave:
Flew over to England yesterday morning and in no time we were at my sisters house. Some of us are staying at sisters and the rest, including, me are at a b&b. Only 1 falling out so far (teenagers) but peace restored soon after:).
It is nephew’s christening today and I’m Godmother. Christening isn’t until 2 so planning a morning of pootering with Mum.
Money front - budgets all sorted for month ahead and savings squirrelled away. Payment to credit card away and ready to get shot of it ASAP.
Hopefully it will be a low spend day today but spending covered by holiday budget.
Plans for week ahead - fly home tomorrow afternoon. Back to work Wed. Pop into volunteer thing on Tuesday. Slowly creep towards 12th holidays:).

Hello Munchin, Just found your diary and am subscribing
. What has struck a chord with me is you living with a depressed OH (me too!) you seem to be taking on a lot of the household stuff as well as being the main wage earner, responsible for being responsible about everything! Could you consider stepping back a bit and getting your OH to help out more? It might help with his self esteem as well as taking off some of the pressure on you. Insert mini rant here about women taking on emotional labour

Hi Munchin - excellent news about the job and all good wishes for the interview!
Re bully - cannot your line manager do anything ? Apologies if this was mentioned before - not sure if he reports to your line manager.
I hope you all have a wonderful time at the christening and a safe journey home tomorrow. Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Morning :hello:
GSB - thank you for reading and advice:). It!!!8217;s not easy living with a depressed person as I!!!8217;m sure you know. Have tried to step back but it didn!!!8217;t seem to work. No harm in trying again.
Sis asked if I had rung OH this weekend but I haven!!!8217;t because I!!!8217;m enjoying myself and I feel happy and as soon as I ring him I will be dragged down. I know that sounds selfish but I need a mind break every now and again.
SS - morning. Thank you, I had a great day yesterday and it was lovely to have time with my sisters and Mum.
Re Bully - my line manager is excellent and really supportive. She went to Personnel for advice and help and they were as useful as a chocolate teapot. He has threatened her verbally a number of times and she was told just to keep a record and then take a case against him. In a normal sane workplace if you were intimidated and threatened the powers that be, should at least separate the staff while an investigation happens but not in our place.
Hopefully, in a months time I should know if I have an escape plan:).
Today is our final day in England. I have promised to take nephews into town for a few hours....my nerves will be shattered before I get them home. I will just dander behind them and try not to cramp their style:D.0 -
Hope you've had a nice break, Munchin. I'm keeping everything crossed for your interview!0

Thanks Lilith - can't wait until I get my interview date....then the nerves will really begin.
So back from break and had a fantastic time but am tired now so hopefully get a wee sleep in tomorrow.
Had a nightmare on the money front today. I had left car into garage as it was sick no well. Well the garage rang me today and listed a complete shopping list of things that had gone wrong. Lets say to fix it was in the £1000s. They did say that it was very unusual that x, y & z could all go wrong together and they were contacting the manufacturer to see if they would cover part of the cost. They rang back and the manufacturer will cover a lot of the costs ..phew ... but it is still going to cost just over £1000 . Rang OH and he was not happy. I rang my brother who is a mechanic and after a few hours he rang me back to say that I should go with the garage and he probably couldn't source the parts for any cheaper than the garage.
I think that is the wake up call I needed...well I didn't need it if you know what I mean but it is scary how quickly my money pots disappeared. I will have to empty the 'dream destination' and 'annual bill' pots. I have enough in 'Emergency' pot but it's not easy access. So I've updated my signature to remove the non easy access money and will replenish pots and clear my debt. It's so scary how an unexpected bill can scare me so much.0 -
I really hear you on how easy money pots get cleared out. All these graduation costs, plus my professional registration has cleared out the small savings I had. I was putting money away for the dreaded car service/MOT later in the year, but looks like I'll have to start again0
-
Hi Lilith, I know we should be thankful that we had the pots to start with but that's not how I feel at the moment. Time to shake that off and we can start replenishing the pots .....v v slowly
.
Well my pup missed me like mad. He was staying with my cousin as OH was also away for part of the weekend. My cuz sent me a picture of him looking down in the dumps. She said he wouldn't play with her dogs and she could hardly get him to eat. He is best buds with her dogs so that is unusual. Normally if OH & I are away (doesn't happen often) he stays with my Mum but she was with me. Mum says we are never leaving him alone again.
I should be able to pick up my car today so at least that will be me back on the road again.
Today's plans -
- Washing & ironing (including bedding)
- return jeans for nephew
- prepare for work tmw
- tidy house
- go for a run.
0 - Washing & ironing (including bedding)

Morning Munchin! It is hard. I managed to score some free counselling sessions through work after getting to a stage last year where I was really struggling. That helped me identify when I can help - or when I need to intercede for someone else's health - and when I need to step back for my OWN mental health. It's a tough call.
Sounds like you have a productive day planned - enjoy :j0
