Seems odd that it doesn't fit, but if it doesn't it doesn't!
I can't imagine why they won't refund you. Just send it back and buy a different style. There is presumably something unusual about this one that makes it not fit.0 -

I sounds as though he did order through the website (it's an online-only item) but finalised the payment in the store purely to split it between two CCs.
Go for the refund but before the deadline runs out.“distance contract” means a contract concluded between a trader and a consumer under an organised distance sales or service-provision scheme without the simultaneous physical presence of the trader and the consumer, with the exclusive use of one or more means of distance communication up to and including the time at which the contract is concluded;0 -
In response to the measurement comment, I haven’t muddled them. The head end and foot end fit up perfectly but the sides of the bed are too wide to fit the angle required to get them up the stairs. I thought this wouldn’t be too much of an issue if I was to take them out of the packaging but they are solid pieces so removing the packaging would make no difference. I was even advised against opening them until I had it in the bedroom by the delivery guys.
I agree with others that the distance-selling, 14 day rule doesn’t apply here, and that you’re at the mercy of the retailer as to what level of refund, if any, you’re able to get. I would think the most likely course of action is to allow you to switch the purchase to one that does fit, lose your first delivery charge and be charged for the replacment delivery.0 -
This is exactly it.

Of course you haven’t and none of this is your fault. Having provided the measurements to the shop they clearly knew it wouldn’t fit.0 -

They stated that they ordered the bed online and only then went into the store to sort out the payment.
They also stated:I made sure the bed could fit0 -
I think he was being sarcastic...0
