They did try every which way to get those two parts up the stairs but couldn’t get it past the banister. I have no issue with the delivery guys.

    What’s the bannister made of?

How much of it would need removing to enable the bits to go past?

Can the banister be removed/taken apart?

It probably can but it’s a rented property so I would like to try and avoid that if possible.
  • They might not give you a refund but they may give you an exchange for a different bed as a gesture of goodwill.

I know, the only reason I would push for a refund is because I don’t want to be in the exact same situation and end up in an infinite loop.

This was my thoughts when the delivery guys said it wouldn’t fit (I had paid for delivery and install) but when I asked them about it they said it was a one part thing.

Many beds split into two pieces for this reason, I cannot see why anyone would sell a one piece bed.

I made sure the bed could fit (which it can) it’s just those two parts of it..
I think you’ve muddled your measurements. How can the whole bed fit but one part of it not?

Could you not open the box and move it piece by piece?

The individual component should be smaller?

“Consumer Contract regulations only apply to your order if the goods have not been custom made to your specification or if you have not examined the product in one of our showrooms. If the Consumer Contract Regulations do apply you can cancel your furniture by notifying us, in writing, before delivery or within 14 working days beginning with the day after the date of delivery.”

It was not custom made, you can select the exact one I bought online. Also, I did not examine the product in the showroom as it is an online only purchase (or so I’m told by the store). I went into store to purchase it because I wanted to pay my deposit in two halves from different cards and it was easier doing it that way.

I can’t post a link because I’m new to the forum.

You are quoting from this page I think

    DFS t&c

and at the top of the page it clearly states

"Welcome to the dfs.co.uk website terms and conditions for use. These apply to the use of this Website and by accessing this Website and/or placing an order through the Head Office (DFS Direct) Telephone Sales Department, you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions set out below.
    "

you did not order through the telephone sales department or through the website so the T&C's you are quoting DONT apply to your purchase (if you are using this page).

I sounds as though he did order through the website (it's an online-only item) but finalised the payment in the store purely to split it between two CCs.

Go for the refund but before the deadline runs out.

    This is exactly it.

In response to the measurement comment, I haven’t muddled them. The head end and foot end fit up perfectly but the sides of the bed are too wide to fit the angle required to get them up the stairs. I thought this wouldn’t be too much of an issue if I was to take them out of the packaging but they are solid pieces so removing the packaging would make no difference. I was even advised against opening them until I had it in the bedroom by the delivery guys.
