That’s very unfair indeed 😡 Definitely involve the union, they need to know this is how staff are being treated. Not on at all 🤬

I agree - get your union involved.  The real problem is as always some employers (not just NHS) are always prepared to take advantage of an employees good will.  I would do all the training they are prepared to offer.  Last thing I heard there were doctors surgeries desperate for people who can do things like take bloods & help run various clinics.  May as well get what training you can on their time ready to be employed elsewhere.  For once use them & not let them use you.

That's terrible, so unfair. Would there be a case that they are discriminating against you if they won't offer shorter hours to accommodate your health?
No because they will use the excuse that there is no business reason for keeping me on on those hours. Also they can say I'm not fit to do the job which is what they have been trying to do for about the last 10 years

Oh that is so unfair, @OBL. I absolutely understand you feeling so let down & angry. Are you a trade union member? Could you talk to the union about it? It doesn't seem right at all that you are expected to perform Band 3 tasks yet remain on Band 2. Surely a union would back you on that?

I am with the union and will approach them when I know what's going to happen. I have to prove on my retire and return application that there is a good business reason for re employing me so I'm not sure how I would get on because there is no job in clinics for a band 2 unless they do the band 3 jobs and they could say I'm not able to do  the role on the ward because I don't do long shifts 🤷‍♀️

That is awful treatment by your healthcare trust or is it the management directly above you? I can understand you being furious at that. Good that you have put in your retirement form though and sure you will find something. What about agency nursing for a day or two a week after retirement or is that worse?
It's both my management and the trust, they treat their staff like dirt. I will find another job after retiring if they don't re employ  me but there's not much around for a paediatric HCA so it will be something completely different

The thing is there isn't actually any more training that I need for this job role so I dont know why she said that apart from to put me off because she knows I don't want to do anymore now. I did two years of training and got the relevant qualifications but there wasn't a role for me to step up to so I've just carried on since 2007 doing the job anyway. Ive asked her to send me the 16 criteria we need to meet to be upgraded so I can see what she is on about. I know I actually meet them all because I have seen them but wasn't supposed to so can't say anything until she shows them to me.

Just been into town to buy dog food and sawdust so I can clean the chicken out over the weekend. It's a lovely day here so I've got my strimmer charging to tackle the front garden. Im meant to be decorating but it's too nice outside 😀

    It is nice, isn't it?
I've washed the bedding as I've seen it's going to rain where I am tomorrow afternoon so at least that's one bed sorted. So hard to dry it on wet days.

You've got the nice weather today then, @OBL.Grey old day here with not a single sign of any sunshine. Thermostat in our hall said 16.5° for ages but has grudgingly inched up to the dizzy heights of 17.5 now. It feels chilly & not like the middle of May at all.

2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!

That’s odd @foxgloves as we’re in the same county and it’s been warm and sunny here all afternoon. I’ve been sitting reading my book in the garden and it was getting quite hot at one stage. How weird.
