  • We had a lovely day yesterday with DD1 and the DGC, they were so excited and so funny all day, they both went for a nap and ten minutes after going up the eldest came back down and said " I've had a lovely nap now " 😀 our Christmas dinner cooked by my son law was very yummy indeed. I was spoilt with presents too which included two books ( The Midnight Library by Matt Haig and The Wild Silence by Raynor Winn) I read Raynor Winn's book The Salt Path a while ago and absolutely loved it ,this book is a follow up to see what they got up to next. Matt Haig is one of my most favourite authors he has such a way with words and a unique way of getting ideas across,Ive read all his books and have loved every one 😊I also got a lovely cross stitch embroidery kit that doubles up as my Christmas decoration so I'm looking forward to stitching that
Today I worked an early which was a really nice shift with a lovely team, the people on the early were allowed to leave at 2 instead of 3.30 so that was a bonus. The day was slightly spoiled by my nutty sister posting a not very nice comment on a post I put on Facebook, she is apparently very annoyed because I never send her cards or reply to her messages which isn't actually true, I normally send a birthday card and Christmas card but forgot this year,I spoke to her on the phone and apologised for forgetting her birthday which she was fine about but I didn't realise I had forgotten to send a Christmas card this year, she has now blocked me and I doubt I shall hear from her again, slight over reaction I think ,DD 1 is fuming about it and told her so, I have got a very unreliable memory which has got worse this year, the other night me and DD2 took B for her evening walk a bit early at 5.30 ish, 7 pm came round and I'm heading out the door with B to take her out for her evening walk completely forgetting we had already taken her out 🙀 I wake up some mornings and can't remember what day it is,I have to look at the calendar and work it out that's how bad my memory is 😟 so to forget a card is nothing in the grand scheme of things add that to being ill and the year in general and it's a recipe for disaster ,I'm afraid I was so angry replied in a not very nice way, she won't have been able to see it and I've deleted it now,I was so angry but now just feel incredibly sad 😟

What a shame for your sister to react like that. 😡

  • Glad you had a nice day yesterday with the DGC. I have The Wild Silence book too as I loved the Salt Path. Inspiring story of a couple who overcome adversity in a remarkable way. I have walked part of the SW Coast path and it is a massive challenge so for two people not in the best of health to carry all their possessions and walk 630 miles in all weathers and live up there is just remarkable. I am looking forward to reading the sequel. Matt Haig is brilliant too.

Sorry about your sister but you have had a lot on recently with Covid and chest infections etc so not surprising you forget certain things.

I'm sure I've read that Covid can affect brain function, whether directly or because people just have a lot to cope with, I don't know. I'm sorry your sister reacted as she did. :(

Christmas Day sounds lovely. Enjoy the books!

  • Sorry about your sister ruining things. I have also read how long Covid can impact memory and brain. Someone I know had it and when using the toilet they said they'd forgotten how to wipe. She cried at how ridiculous but was.
Very glad you did have a lovely day with your children though and you got a lot of thoughtful gifts.

I just loved how they took what was an awful situation and just went with it, I would never be able to walk that far that's for sure 🙀
