I'm also limiting how much news I watch, I just get anxious but actually the more it goes from theoretical to real, the more I can say 'Okay, so this is happening but I'm still here'. I suppose there may come a point where that doesn't work but somehow it's better to have an opponent in the room than skulking somewhere in the shadows.

The hospital where my son works is doing just the same as yours: everything is being rejigged. He's sad this evening because he loves his team and they won't be together any more. Their ward is now closed and may not come back in the same form after the virus has abated.

I wonder if you can mute FB notifications from people and groups that post these negative things?

Respect due, OBL. All that you & your NHS colleagues are doing is hugely appreciated by me & mine. I just wish people would take the social distancing seriously. I couldn't BELIEVE so many people simply headed off to the sea front for a day out yesterday. What bit of the infection spreading matrix are they not understanding?
The news from Italy made me feel very sad, then hearing about the crowds of d*ck heads in the UK who interpreted the social distancing rules as 'Go & risk spreading it in a different community' made me angry.
Definitely cutting down on my news junkie habit.

There was a plea from a local FB group yesterday asking people to only send one person per family out to shop.  Apparently local parents have been treating it as a fun thing the whole family can do together.  I witnessed it myself. So thoughtless.  I just scroll past all the scaremongering and stupid stuff folks are sharing, my cousin is the worst one for this she must be on FB all day, she should know better too she's in her 70s.  Shameful :(

We even have a car boot open in our area. Loads of adverse comments on their facebook page but still they go ahead. Their excuse they have a meat van, fruitand veg stalls and bakery. So just have them and leave peoples cast offs to another day. It is so irresponsible and just encouraging people to be in lose proximity to each other. I used to sell regularly there but will never go again as either a sell or a buyer. All they are interested in is making money. Sorry for the rant but I am so angry about it. I also heard on the news that the Scottish parliament is bringing emergency legislation to stop pubs opening as some are still trading.  I dont know about the rest of the UK. Are people totally without the sense they were born with.

I don't mind you posting stuff about the hospital OBL as it's very interesting to see how hospitals are preparing and I'm very interested to hear the virus only lives for six hours on clothes. We are are here for you to talk to, blow off steam, etc, and we don't mind :).

We all feel despondant at the moment and I've been moaning like mad on my diary :). We're all in this together and we need to help each other.

Although I'm all for seeing pictures off fluffy kittens on FB  🐱🐈🐶🐕🐰🐇🐔🐓

Today sunk to a new low but for personal reasons rather than the virus, we have a safety briefing everyday now because things change daily when dealing with this virus, anyway someone asked if it was true that ibuprofen shouldn't be taken if you get the virus, the reason apparently is because ibuprofen can lower your immunity and also aggravate respiratory problems, I happened to mention that I take a lot of ibuprofen and maybe I should stop taking it ,one of the nurses looked up and said you had best  keep taking it because then at least we won't have to listen to you moaning all the time about being in pain 😢
I was absolutely floored by this comment and had to stop speaking because I would have cried, I don't talk about my pain at work, sometimes people can see on my face that I am not feeling too good so will ask me if I'm in pain and I will say yes if I am but apart from that I don't talk about it because it helps not to focus on it
I'm now second guessing everything I say and wondering who else thinks like this at work, this nurse was someone who I thought was someone who understood, she is always asking me if I'm ok and I normally just say yes I'm fine thanks so for her to come out with this today really hurt my feelings

I'm friends with a lot of people from work but now I don't want to bother with them,I have deleted all my work colleagues from FB and just kept some people from the HCA team

I will be civil at work but these people are not friends they are just people I work with 😢
