OBL I have saving pots for lots of different things and they work well for me . I have my EF separate from my savings , if that makes sense.

I hope you get to finish your bathroom whilst you are of. Don't forget to enjoy yourself as well, we spend a long time at work. Hope your evening out went to plan.

Good idea to put your treat money in a different pot.  I do the same as in the past it has disappeared into the ether of general spending. I also put £200 to one side when I get paid, split it into 4 lots of £50 and at the end of the week the £50 gets sent to the Emergency Fund if I don't use it.
You are so disciplined,I would end up spending the whole £200 😬I know I can't be trusted with money that doesn't have a purpose so as soon as I get paid I move an amount into my savings pots before I do anything else, every penny is budgeted for and moved to where I need it but I also know that if anything goes pear shaped I can move it back into my current account if needed

Well done on achieving your £1000 emergency fund, OBL. It's a good idea to have another savings fund for other non-emergency things which crop up. I think, really, that's what I'm doing with our Savings Pots (which come with their own extra-exciting spreadsheet, naturally!). When I set our budget for the coming month, I earmark a workable chunk of money - depending on what we can afford that month, as leaving things too low can be a pitfall in itself, can't it? Then I divide it between whichever of our Savings Pots are being 'paid' that month. I think this is kind of similar to what you are proposing in a way, because some things like car tyres, cat's boosters, boiler service, etc, aren't emergencies - they are annual events which should be planned in, so I always used to find it really annoying to have to dip into our Emergency Fund for things like these, but I used to do it if the alternative was going overdrawn or having to use credit. One of the reasons I think I'm being so cautious with the sum of money ringfenced for building work/home improvement plans is that if I make a b*lls of it & over-commit, I will have to raid the emergency fund. I was without any form of an emergency fund for YEARS........but now I've got one, I am so reluctant to dip into it & I bet you are just the same!

Yep that's exactly it, I'm saving it for things that aren't exactly emergencies but that might crop up, you have hit the nail on the head re the emergency fund, I have never had an emergency fund in my life so now I have one it's going to have to be an emergency with a capital E to get me to spend it,I love checking my accounts and seeing sitting there safely 😀
This is also the first time since I left home that I've had any savings of any sort, my money was always swallowed up the day after payday and I would then be living in my overdraft for the rest of the month

Yes that makes sense,I was just going to keep adding my savings to the emergency fund account but then decided it would be too easy to lose track of it

I'm supposed to be doing some of the bathroom tomorrow, but I'm sitting here with awful stomach cramps so I'm hoping I'm not going to be ill😟

Last night was really good thanks,I've spent part of today relaxing on the sofa reading dairies on here 😊

We had a lovely time last night on our night out, I had a butternut squash and spinach risotto and it was yummy, I had wanted tiramisu for my dessert but sadly they didn't have any, so I had panettone bread and butter pudding with ice cream, we also went to a bar for cocktails so I had my favourite espresso martini but instead of vodka they offered it with dark rum so I tried that, its sooooooo lovely, the bad news is they were two for one so went straight to my head 😂😂 I recovered with a nice glass of lemonade 😂

I had a lie in this morning and had a leisurely breakfast,I spent the morning reading and looking at FB before DD2 dragged me off to town, it was sunny so we walked in which takes about half an hour so that's today's exercise done I bought the gloss paint so I can start painting the woodwork tomorrow

Im hoping I'm going to be ok tomorrow because I have a crampy stomach this evening, it feels the same as it did the last time I had a stomach upset,I'm going to be really annoyed if I'm ill again as that will be the third time since December 🙀

Yay,I wasn't ill and feel fine today but one of the girls I was out with is poorly with a bad tummy, it's funny because I tried some of her dessert so I'm wondering if that was why I had a cramps tummy but it wasn't enough to make me properly poorly 🤷‍♀️ Last night I slept really badly,I felt really wired when I went to bed and had all these thoughts racing round I'm my head, all stupid things that aren't important but enough to keep me awake,I did get to sleep at around 3.30 in the end after reading for a while

Today im doing the bathroom ,I've just washed all the paint work and I'm having a coffee break while it all dries,I've also tidied the kitchen because we went to bed last night and didn't do the dishes so it looked a mess this morning, I've got a load of washing on the go as well,I'm wondering whether to try pegging it out because the sun is shining at the moment and it's really windy,I won't be able to run out quickly and get it though if it does start raining

Ive also walked the dog and cleaned the 🐓🐓out and they are pottering round the garden trying not to get blown away, mind you it would take a strong wind to blow Babs away because she is like a tank 😂😂

I got on really well with the bathroom, all the skirting boards have had two coats,I've just got to do a second coat on the door and door surround,I also washed down the stair bannister and the outside of DD2s bedroom door I need to wash my door, the door to the airing cupboard and the spare room then I could also paint them, the whole house needs doing so I'm thinking while I've got a tin of gloss on the go I might as well do it,I've also got a large tin of paint that I bought at least a year or two ago for the hall,I'm going to check it's still ok and if I've got time I could paint the hall stairs and landing as well,I will see how I feel
I think I'm getting my decorating mojo back again so want to do as much as I can before I lose it again 😂 it all depends on if I finish the bathroom while I'm off,I've got to fill the holes in the wall and paint them plus lay the new floor, I test painted colour I have picked on a sheet of white paper,it's a very pale grey and it looks lovely, the tiling will have to wait until I have enough money and have decided what to use

Tomorrow I can't do anything to the house because it's my day with the DGC, I will pick it back up on Wednesday

I did get all my washing done as well today but I didn't peg any of it out in the end because the sky started to look very dark,I don't think it actually rained though so that's annoying

Is it the gloss paint giving you a headache? Mr SA suffers with gloss paint fumes, gives him a sore throat and headache. Wilko paint is really good, we’ve used it many times, would definitely buy again.
