  • Currently battening down the hatches ready for Dennis 🙀it's chucking it down here and there are rivers of water running down my hill, it's doesn't seem too bad from indoors but I took the dog out just now and the wind gusts are pretty bad already, I wore my waterproof trousers and coat but I've just discovered my boots are letting in water on the right foot so new boots are going to be needed at some point,to be honest they are past their best anyway but I've been putting it off in the hope they will last until the better weather arrives,I've got a pair of walking boots that DD gave me so I think I will start using them for dog walks etc,I have a pair of smart ankle boots that my mum bought me for Christmas if I need any for going anywhere nice, they are particularly waterproof though so I can't wear them if it's chucking down

I was supposed to be meeting my mum today but I cancelled because I don't feel too good,I left work at 5pm when my clinics finished yesterday because I was in quite a lot of pain,I was supposed to be working until 8pm but I couldn't do it yesterday,I  have a bit of a scratchy throat today and feel a sniffly so I don't know if I'm getting a cold,I'm hoping not because I need to work tomorrow,I'm definitely developing a cough that's for sure 😟 it's just as well I did cancel because the weather is so bad anyway
Im not planning on doing anything strenuous today,I'm going to put a load of washing on and try to sneak out and clean the 🐓🐓 out then I'm going to do some more sewing,I need to ask DD how much DGS weighed though because I've forgotten 😀 I can work my way round the bit where his weight goes so it doesn't matter too much

I'm just having a coffee and a catch up on here while I wait to see if there is a break in the rain so I can get outside,I have a feeling I'm going to be getting wet at some point

  • The rain has been bad here too. I had to rescue the rabbit as he was just huddled down into the corner but still getting wet. He normally goes under the bbq cover but must have decided he didn't want to today. Normally he runs when I try to pick him up but he just sat there so I think he was grateful to get out of the rain.
How are the chickens with the storms? x

  • I hope you feel better soon OBL and didn't get too wet walking the dog and cleaning out the chickens. It's pretty wet and windy in my neck of the woods ☔🌬🌧.

Rabbits definitely don't like getting wet so he was probably glad you took him in, maybe the rain on the bbq cover was too noisy, the chickens are not too bad with storms, they have a mostly waterproof run so don't get wet anyway, so long as they've got a nice dry house to roost in they are happy 😊

Niknak, do take extra care of the rabbit till you're sure he's all right - we had one that sat in the wet: poor thing, we didn't realise the waterproof over her run had a hole so her dry space got saturated and very sadly she died shortly after. I'm always sad if we lose a pet and I'd done all the usual things to keep her safe but this one still makes me extra sad. Hopefully yours will be fine though.

  • DD did an online shop today so I added some things that I need onto it to save me a trip, it all came this time as well,I like using the opportunity to stock up on heavy things like wash powder and dog food,I also bought a pack of 24 loo rolls to replenish my supply,I still have some left from the last delivery so won't need any for a while
Once it had arrived and it had been put away it got me to thinking that I really need to get more organised when it comes to my shopping,I don't properly meal plan at the moment and tend to fly by the seat of my pants,I'm sure life would be simpler if I could get my head round the whole meal plan idea, at the moment I go shopping as and when I need things and then normally cook one meal which will last me four days then I buy ingredients for the next meal I fancy ,but sometimes things crop up and I can't get to the shops and this is when I get into takeaway territory, I know if I plan and shop accordingly things would be easier I just need to make myself do it,I won't need enough now to make it worth my while this month but I think from next month budget I will try it out and see what happens,it could mean that I only need to do a main shop once a month then it would jut leave fresh ingredients to buy to make meals,I'm going to  date when I open the dog food and wash powder so I can see how long they last me and then try to work out if it's worth it for me as a single person to do an online shop, at the moment it's ok because DD is here so we can combine but I'm not sure if it will work if I'm on my own

  • At Mr T you only need to spend £40 to get an online delivery which would be doable if you stock up on heavy and bulky items. Meal planning is a good idea if it keeps you away from takeaways :).

I think all the online supermarkets have a £40 minimum spend.  Usually I have all the bulky/heavy items delivered then pick up fresh stuff as and when needed. You could even have a monthly non-perishables delivery so you've got all the basics in then pick up the rest separately.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

Oh that's good to know,I would definitely spend that each month,I'm definitely going to give it a try when I set my next budget on payday,in the meantime I'm going to try to eat what's in the freezer so I can make some space
