My journey to a debt free life

That two days off done,I'm back to work on a late today so not too bad, they have got me down to do a study day but I've actually already done it🙄 they also have me down to do a study day on Friday but also to work in a clinic so that will be interesting
The last two days have been lovely and sunny and today is no exception however as DD points out it kind of feels bad because it's down to global warming so really isn't a good sign:( I was feeling quite cheerful until she said that
I have had a productive couple of days doing various things, yesterday we sold DDs desk so that was decluttered to a new home,a couple of nice young guys came and took it away,so I don't have to keep tripping over it now:j
I had DGS all day yesterday and he was in a really cheeky playful mood,he is starting to develope his own little personality now, he has also had his first hair cut and looks sooooo cute, like a proper little boy
I also went to the sketchers shop yesterday with the intention of buying some more work shoes,I wear these because they are light and super comfortable with their memory foam soles, but they were £62 :eek: when I bought them last time they were £49,so I looked online and found some exactly the same for £32 :eek: so I ordered those,I'm not paying £62 for work shoes even if they are lovely
Last night we watched three more episodes of The Umbrella Academy and I have to say I'm really enjoying it but I'm as confused as hell :rotfl:
Right I must get going becasue I have to get my lunch ready and do a quick clean of the chickens before I leave
Almost forgot to say the healthy eating isn't going too badly and I have lost 2lbs:j:j:jOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1201 -
Well done for losing the 2lbs!
I know we are in related lines of work but mine doesn't have uniform so I may have more leeway than you. My colleagues and I have had discussions about footwear as heavy shoes on hard floors are incredibly tiring. Do you have to wear 'proper' shoes? If not, cheap running shoes (M@talan or Primarni) at a about a tenner are really comfortable and seem to be wearing well. They don't have built up insteps but the ones I have, have memoryfoam insoles and a breathable upper, which is great.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Hi Cherry ,we have to wear black shoes with covered toes,we never used to be able to wear trainers but they will let us now so long as they are completely blacksmd aren't soft mesh type shoes, the ones I've ordered have some mesh panels but the toe is partially covered, I have bought cheaper shoes before but they haven't offered enough support so I tried the sketchers and they really help keep my feet comfortableOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1201 -
I don't think the ones I like would be suitable for your work, then - too much mesh! I do think trainers are great for work, though so I'm glad your place of work has relented!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I used to have terrible trouble finding comfy shoes before they let us wear trainers, we all went through a phase of wearing crocs and some of the nurses still do,but I found my legs and feet ached a lot more after wearing them for several monthsOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1201 -
That's work done for another day,it was quite a busy shift but I like that as it makes the time go quicker,it was also payday today so tomorrrow I can sort a new budget out
I came home to find a letter from the housing society who own the other half of my house,it was my annual rent review so that's gone up by another couple of pounds,my rent payment is now higher than my mortgage payment and will continue to rise in line with inflation,it's still really cheap but it makes me sad to know I will never finish paying for this house even though I will finish my mortgage eventually
I'm not sure what my plans are for tomorrow yet,I want to do some bits in the garden but typically now I've got time to do it they have forecast rain
I also want to buy a new bed for the dog,the ones she has now is just like a large cushion and is on it's last legs, now she is getting on a bit I think she might benefit more from a bed with sides, she sleeps on the landing and it can get quite chilly in the night,I have got up a few times and she was in such a tight ball she must have been cold,if she has a bed with sides she can snuggle into the edges, plus the cat likes to share her bed and she always ends up half off it on the floor because he is a bed hogger, now she is getting older and a bit stiff I want to give her a bit more comfort
If I can't do the bits in the garden I might do some more of the bathroom, the skirting boards need sanding so I can paint them,I still need to buy the paint for the walls,I'm thinking a pale grey would look nice but just have to find one I likeOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1201 -
great news about the weight loss. I bought a pair of skechers in America and they were fantastic. I haven't bought another pair since then, which is a shame really as I have just remembered how comfy they actually were.
Glad work went quickly. I love pay day xSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330
Starting afresh.

It's a shame about your rent going up a bit. How much is your rent? Will it be affordable for you when you retire?
They do seem to be saying the weather will be worse tomorrow. I can hear the wind whistling outside the house now  although it was sunny and quite pleasant most of today.
I think grey will be nice for your bathroom. Are you sanding the skirting boards before painting them or will you leave them stripped? The advantage of stripped skirtings is that you don't get chips. Ours look awful with bits of paint chipped off, but it would take forever to sand them so we'll probably just paint them.
A new bed for your dog is a lovely idea and would protect her from draughts if it has sides.
Have a lovely evening.

I bought a cat bed with 'sides', as they do like to lean on them & I always think there is less of a draught. I bought it from the pet stall on the market for £18 which I thought was quite expensive but it has lasted years. It is still in good nick & the removable cover washes well. I add a blanket in the coldest months for extra snuggliness..... Not that he's spoiled rotten or anything.....

The rent has gone up to £202 a month and I pay £180 mortgage I think,it only goes up by a couple of pounds a month so it's not too bad at the moment,I think I might struggle to pay it when I retire though so I have a contingency plan,DD will have moved out by then so I'm planning on renting out her room, there are always loads of staff at the hospital looking for accommodation so I should have plenty of tenants to choose from
I'm going to have to lightly sand them because the paint that is on them now is uneven,I have an electric sander though so it won't take longOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1201
