My journey to a debt free life

Oh no. We have a trampoline in our garden. My 10yr old is autistic and in warmer weather it really helps him calm down. And it has been known for a group of them to go out and be noisy on it together. But they are not allowed on it before 9.30am, and after 7pm. And I try to encourage him of if he has been on for quite a long time. They are incredibly noisy even with one person jumping on it so I try to be as accommodating as possible.
Are you still enjoying the umbrella academy? We have been this weekend. It's interesting, took us about 5 episodes to finally say 'where are their mobiles?' and 'why don't they just use the Internet?' knew there was something odd, just took us ages to notice this :rotfl:
We also enjoyed Titans on Netflix. Another comic book one, we watched it as we always watch teen titans go with the smalls and wanted to see the characters as they are portrayed in the comics as opposed to the funny ones in the cartoon.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉0 -
Have you seen Russian Doll? That's BRILLIANT and also on Netflix. And definitely do watch The Marvellous Mrs Maisel, we've watched both seasons now

I discovered my DD was using our trampoline as a springboard to get to next door's trampoline! this makes a difference - it halves the noise output from our garden but overall volume is increased my me yelling 'Stop that now!'
I hope your noisy neighbours find somewhere else to be loud.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I don't mind the noise of children playing even if they are really loud,I live by a school so hear them constantly,it's more the language and the fact that they aren't actually playing more trying to kill each other all the time :rotfl:
It's also the running round the house at 2.30 in the morning and slamming the doors that gets to me,I don't mind if I haven't got to get up for work but I am constantly being woken up,or can't get to sleep in the first place because they are running round the house,it also worries me that there are never any happy sounds from anyone in the household,it's just constant shouting from the parents, the crying from the kids,I can't work out how old they are but I would say between 8 and 10
The contact I have had with these two boys has actually led me to believe that at least one of them has special needs and might actually be autistic so I'm trying to be understanding as from working with quite a few autistic children I vaguely know how challanging their behaviour can be and I think the trampoline might have been bought for the same reasons
The parents don't seem to be coping well either judging by the amount of screaming and yelling that goes on in the house, I think they have support because there are always professional looking people visiting
I had literally had enough that day as I lamented the loss of my peaceful afternoons sitting in my garden listening to the birds
Forgot to say earlier,I am loving The Umbrella Academy,we are only on episode 2 though and I hadn't noticed the lack of mobiles or computers :rotfl:I think so far Klaus is my favourite characterOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1201 -
I agree it's worrying - you wonder if they need help and if so would they take it and does it exist? If you know what school the children go to, could you perhaps contact the head teacher to express your concerns?
Looking at it from another angle, if they rent the house the landlord may have some leverage.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

There are definitely professional people involved with this family so I'm not too worried from that point of view, the landlord is my ex neighbour and is a horrible person,he wouldn't care what they get up to so long as he gets his rent,I think the boys go to a special school,I know they are picked up and brought home by a taxi and they don't always go for the whole dayOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1201 -
The decluttering has re commenced, yesterday I took some clothes that were no good for the charity shop to the clothes bank along with some shoes that were no longer needed
I'm off tomorrow so I'm planning on goi go through some more bits from the spare room,I have an old jewellery box in there that needs to go in the recycling but it's still got old jewellery in it,so I'm going to sort that out and bag it up to take to the charity shop, there is also a lovely metal seed and allotment box in there that DD 1 bought for DD 2 one Xmas a few years ago,she doesn't want it anymore but I think it's too nice to get rid of so I'm going to use it for some of my gardening bits this year and if I don't get good use out of it I will donate it
I might also sort out the floor of my wardrobe tomorrow as I have shoes all over the floor but now that DD has sorted out the stuff under her bed I have two large underbed storage boxes spare,so I'm thinking I can use them to organise the floor of my wardrobe
This all depends on how I'm feeling and whether I decided to finish the bathroom ceiling,I bought the damp paint so could do it tomorrow but I was in so much pain today I'm not sure if I should wait until Monday
DD has also sold her old desk and wants help to take it apart for collection and help to build the new one,I usually act in a supervisory capacity so don't actually do much apart from read and decipher the instructions,I'm quite keen to get this done as the new desk is in a box in the living room and I keep banging my legs on it,so the it's gone the better,I've got to stay in tomorrow until at least 12 because DD has also sold her chest of drawers and thats being picked up tomorrow, I'm thinking at this rate she won't have any furniture left :rotfl:
Talking of DD I've just realised I haven't updated about her no spend year and I have to report that it has gone kaput, she lasted about three weeks before giving in and buying something, she said was making her feel depressed which is interesting,it just goes to show how our emotions are linked to how we spend out money, she isn't a person who spends wildy anyway but I think she was quite disappointed that she only lasted three weeks
I told her to try and have no spend days rather than go for a whole year so she is going to try that instead, she still saved quite a lot of her money though so that's goodOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1201 -

I will check out the Marvellous Mrs Maisiel as we have been watching Cold Feet on ITV and we only have the last episode to watch some need something to replace thatOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1201 -
That's going to be annoying. Our neighbours' kids had a trampoline when they were younger - no bad language & a nice family, but it wasn't shrieking & noisy playing which got to me at all......it was the trampoline springs (or whatever they use for boingy-ness) going 'Kadoing, kadoing, kadoing, kadoing' for seemingly hours at a time. They outgrew their interest in it though, as your neighbours will too. And I told myself that they have to put up with my piano, lol. The awful language is an issue. My old neighbours at my last house couldn't utter a sentance without using the eff word as a noun, adjective, verb & everything else in between. And always uttered at top volume.
I think you'll need some 'neighbour-cancelling headphones!'

I occurs to me that if you declutter any more your house will echo amazingly and the sounds from next door will reverberate around the walls.
I'm glad there's some sort of help for next door, it certainly sounds as though it may be needed. Could you perhaps plant bamboo or something equally quick-growing as a sound break?
Hope you feel better soon.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
