My journey to a debt free life

So today I was up fairly early and got an early start on the day,the first job of the day was to take the dog out, then clean out the chickens,it was freezing this morning so I got the ladder out and lagged to boiler condensate pipe outside,I don't want to be caught out like I was last year when it snowed and I had to go out and sort it out in a snow storm,it will be ok for now but could do with another layer so I need to get some more bubble wrap, fortunately there is some at work that is going in the bin so I will grab that tomorrow
I then walked into town and met my mum for lunch and a catch up,she had a nice Christmas so that was good to hear,Dad seemed to be behaving himself for a change
I am now sitting down with a Martini and lemonade,DD has recorded Fantastic Beasts for us to watch so we will be doing that later,I missed it at the cinema so I'm looking forward to finally seeing it
I forgot to post last night that yesterday was a NSDso I'm pleased with that
I'm working again tomorrow and have decided not to get a taxi and walk,it's not wet at the moment so it's ideal walking weather and I can listen to an uplifting podcast on the way,it's also saves me £10 on taxi fare and will wake me up,tomorrow will be be a NSD too
Just edited the post to say I've updated my signature to take off this months SC payment which has now gone down to £79 due to my change in hours,it's coming down slowly :jOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1201 -

. But I suddenly realised last summer that I wasn't having them any more, despite it being a heatwave, so I am massively relieved :T. One less thing to torment me anyway.
I agree about walking. I enjoy it and it helps relieve my stress. Mind you it helps that I don't drive as often it's easier to walk than faff around waiting for buses. I listen to dance music and find it very uplifting and it gives me so much energy that I power along :rotfl:. Podcasts are a great idea too though :T.
It's been about 5 years for me so far so I'm hoping it won't last much longer,I haven't had a hot flush for a couple of months now,my worst symptom is low mood/ mood swings,I feel like a grumpy teenager again :rotfl:and my temper just flips although that seems to have calmed down in the last few weeks
I've never learned to drive so have to rely on my legs or the bus to get around,I used to find dance music good to listen to at the gym,it was really motivating :rotfl:Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1201 -

I'm not sure if I had mood swings because of it because it coincided with a bad time in my life so it was hard to know which reason was causing me to feel bad, but I did feel awful at that time.
It is horrible while it lasts. Hopefully you won't have to put up with it for too much longer. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

OBL Happy New Year , I am over the lurgy well almost and am starting to feel myself. It sounds like you have had a nice festive period , mixed in with your working.
I haven't had any hot flushes or much else, it seems my one proble, has been sleeping. Have in good the jet lag just about pushed me over the edge. I am happy to report that it seems to be going back to normal for me.
Your debt total will be in the thousand after next months payment so it's going the right way.
Have a good Sunday .This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Enjoy work today. I need to start walking and getting those 10k steps in.
This time next year, look how much debt you would have reduced. The issue with debt is that it is always a very slow process. Takes 10 seconds to get into, but months and years to get out of. xSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330
Starting afresh.
You can do anything if you put your mind to it. x0 -

I did actually enjoy work today but I didn't get my steps in because I was offered a lift at the last minute:j
I did have a little pang of regret when I dropped my payment because the debt reduction will be slower but I've made my peace with it now,my health is more important than the speed I pay off my debt and my future circumstances might change enough to allow me to increase the payment one day you never knowOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1201 -
I didn't end up walking to work today because my friend messaged me just before I went to bed to say she was working so I could have a lift,in one way I was looking forward to the walk but in another it did mean extra time in bed which is always a bonus:T she was on a long day too so gave me a lift home as well:j
I worked in our emergency assessment unit today,I don't normally work a full shift in there,I just cover breaks but there wasn't anyone today so I spent most of my day there,I don't normally like it but it wasn't too busy and it was a nice change of scenery
I'm just chilling out for a bit before bed and pondering last years achievements, looking back it wasnt a horrible year.
It was the year I came to my senses where my finances are concerned and I gave up living beyond my means.
I learned how to budget and cook food in a way that is budget friendly and not as wasteful ( still working on this )
I learned that it's better to save for the things you need and to be more organised where things like birthdays are concerned
I learned that things will work out so long as you plan as much as possible and if things go wrong try not to panic too much
I stopped using credit cards and haven't used one for 12 months:j:A
I learned to put my health before my finances ........eventually........:D
I learned that I quite like seeing money in my account rather than spending it on things I don't need
I learned that buying things doesn't make me happy, doing things with people I love makes me happy, hopefully they are sometimes free things as well
I learned that if I put my mind to it I can achieve a lot in one year
I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in 2019,I normally dread a new year because of debt problems but I'm actually quite excited about this year,I know I still owe a large amount of money but the main thing for me is that it's under control and being paid back and I am still able to live without being destitute :jOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1202
