Looking to buy a new executive company car

  • Thank you all for the replies. I've got round to test drive the Jag and BMW, but not yet, the Kia. Going in, I was almost hoping that the BMW would be a disappointment or at least, not as good as the Jag but unfortunately the reality did not match my hopeful expectations. The Jag was a fine car, the interior was a very nice place to sit in and betters the BMW in that regard but unfortunately that's where its trump card ends. I could not justify why the Jag cost £5,000 more than the BMW and the price really did put me off.

Feeling rather reluctant going to the BMW dealer and test driving the 340i M Sport, as I truly did not want to choose this car, the drive was almost in a different league to the Jag. I tried to look for things I didn't like, and there were several: bland looking on the outside and inside, it's a BMW, bland interior but all this aside, and have I already said it's a BMW? I truly enjoyed how it felt to drive and this did cancel out the negatives of the car or the negative preconceptions I had of the car.

Feeling rather frustrated now, my heart wants the Kia but my head wants the BMW. I only hope the Kia some how engages me during the test drive, but I've yet to see. At least for now, I can rule out the over priced Jag...

Wholly in line with my expectations of what would happen. The BMW is a superb drivers car. With that engine it runs rings round the opposition, and i would expect that it will similarly trump the KIA.

Have a play around with the BMW online configurator - theres quite a few options you can tweak to break up the interior. Demo cars are very often quite non descript inside, but theres various trim options and colours that can make a big difference without costing £,£££s

Also make sure you have one eye on the drivethedeal & broadspeed prices as your local dealer - whilst initially they might feign horror at even the possibility of it - will be able to come quite close to those prices. Just stand your grand, insist their deal isnt good enough and tell them you are prepared to walk and buy it online via a broker

The drive of the 340i M Sport has really stuck with me, I can only imagine what the M4 must feel like. I have booked a test drive for the Kia tomorrow, will give update once I do

Can you clear up what you're actually looking for in your choice of car, given that you stated you wont be using it as a work car?

He told us in the first paragraph of the first post?

"I want something fairly sporty, comfortable, swift and has a bit of luxury. I only want a petrol, so have narrowed my choices to either the Jaguar XE-S, Kia Stinger GT-S or the BMW 340i M Sport"
  • Why the need to buy new?

I drive an XF, OH drives an XJ, they're both 4 years old - we didn't spend £40,000 on the two cars combined.

  • £40k, fairly sporty, comfortable, swift and has a [STRIKE]bit[/STRIKE] lot of luxury.

Not new by any means but knocks your Kia, BMW and Jag XE choices into a cocked hat.

Had a Kia Sportage on hire whilst my Audi was being repaired. It was as sporty as Les Dawson ........... and he is dead

The Sportage and the Stinger are different animals entirely. Like comparing a leopard to a tabby. Same family, different species.
