Anybody else? What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -

Sometimes (like now) I'm just in the zone - finding it easy. Othertimes - I can't get in the zone at all. I find the same with dieting!
Also, stress makes me drink and eat! So I guess the more stressful my life is the more I drink and eat. I'm trying to find better ways to deal with stress but I don't find it easy tbh....
Posting here defintely helps. Join some of the mini challenges - I think they help too. Bite size targets building to bigger things. What do we do when we fall? Morning! 22/25 and 5/5 for me please Shaggy - and can you put me down for 28 in March?
I have an out today, still not decided if I'll have a drink or not. Next month is my birthday so I have a few days leeway then too.0 -

I have in the past cut down to 21 units for about 18 months, and 14 units for about 8 months, but as I'm sure everyone on here knows, the battle is never won. It isn't particularly adversely effecting my life, but I know that I'm courting health disaster in the long term if I continue.
So I'm trying again, I even went to an AA meeting (I say 'even' because their goal is abstaining). I thought that the experience might help me, but I don't think that it was for me.
Not me Chuck.
I tried to moderate for years. Some days I was able to have a few drinks, and other days I drank to excess despite not intending to.
I'm all or nothing when it comes to alcohol.
Never had issues with food, drugs or gambling, but I reacted to alcohol in a way that when I put any alcohol in my body, all bets were off as to when I would stop. I'd just have one drink after work, and end up hammered in the early hours, despite good intentions to only have one.
On this thread you have the mindful moderates like Maman who are disciplined and controlled about their alcohol, or abstainers like myself and Honey Bear. Just do whatever works for you. So long as it's successful, it doesn't matter.
If dressing up as a rabbit and bouncing up and down in the garden works for you, then do that!
I don't believe I can ever moderate. My safe limit for alcohol is zero.
It took me time to accept and adjust to that. Alcohol was a big part of my life and to leave it behind was hard.
However, it's now 11.5 years for me without a drink, and it's been great. I have found a design for living that really works.
Good luck.0
