Oh I like the look of those chip coins ! Not sure I’d want to go an AA meeting thou !
Funny I always think full of drunks !
One of the ways I kept myself on the straight and narrow when I gave up was to remind myself that if I went back to drinking the only other thing I could try was to take myself off to an AA meeting. I cannot tell you how unattractive that option looked to me.
I had visions of sitting in a circle being forced to listen to other people drone on about their drinking habits - I was so bored of hearing my own thoughts on the subject I couldn't work out how to force myself to listen to others! Plus which I didn't think I could find a women's meeting in this city and I didn't want to go to a mixed one. So, that very, very unpleasant threat was one of my motivators, and it must have had some impact because I'm still AF, four and a half years later.
I prefer Christmas chocolate pennies to the coins AA hands out.31/31, please Shaggy. I delighted to have managed a dry January, thank you all for helping me during this month! :T
For February I shall plan which days I might have a drink when eating out, but I'm going to be checking out the non alcoholic options as well rather than going straight to the wine.
Huge congratulations Rosy10!! Fantastic achievement! Well done. Stick around and keep contributing - it really helps.
Thank you Glenda Sugarbean for the Grauniad article about Prof. David Nutt. I'm a very big fan of his, for having the courage to say something true to politicians and refusing to back down and retract it because it didn't suit the political agenda. That takes guts. And the article was interesting, in itself, too.
31/31 please, Shaggy.Better is good enough.0 -
Evening all , off to bed early , have a doc appointment tomorrow and hopefully get time to swing by the 70% off boots sale !
20/20 - 4/5!:money: I will never be rich but I'm happy :rotfl:0 -
Made it to my 28/28 total, pretty happy with that for January which is usually anything but dry.
February total I’m not sure, got a few social nights out booked, also my birthday is mid-month and usually my friends buy me drinks, they are sticklers for tradition so not sure how that will go. I’ll say 25/28 for Feb but that is a steep target.0 -

ShaggyXxWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
