Cutting Down Alcohol Thread

I am reading a few blogs and have downloaded a book (probably found it through this thread, but can't quite remember).
I have it in my head to do Dry January, but just scared of committing!
I have 1/16 to report.
You could take it a day at a time. Aim for your target and smash it if you can.:D I'd find that more manageable than committing all at once plus there is some evidence that regular AF days are better for us than doing Dry January than going back to old ways. On the other hand there is some evidence that doing dry January helps have some AF days in the rest of the year! Well I read it in my newspaper so it must be true.:rotfl:
I find having a break mid evening helps me cut back on drinking days. I'll start at wine o'clock. Then have a coffee or tea after dinner then start again later. It can take willpower not to open another bottle later but the more I do it the less of a problem it becomes. Also if I go out of an evening and don't drink (like when I'm driving) then I won't let myself have a drink when I get home. Past about 9 p.m. or later would be a massive waste of an AF day to me.:)0 -

Anybody else? What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -

Honeybear so sorry to hear about your lovely dog, how sad.
Welcome to SamwisetheFrugal and HeleJenkins1 and good luck in January!
The latter part of December ended up being a sociable time with drinking. No hangovers though I have been technically binge drinking having more than 1 large wine glass each time.
Determined to get off the starting blocks for 2019 today. I want to hit over 150 this year! 1/14 for this evening please Shaggy and congratulations on your AF NYE!
Re drinking less, I found having a soft drink in between helped me a bit and also dinner. Either eating dinner earlier or eating something at all if it was a ‘just a quick’ drink as often that meant no dinner in the past!0 -
Good afternoon everyone,
2 please Shaggy
HB - very sad news about your beloved dog. My JRT is now 13.1/2 and now only has three working legs, is losing his sight and has a bit of doggy dementia. However he still tries chasing pheasants and rabbits and he wants to go on walks everyday, but I know he's getting on a bit and it's absolute heartbreak when you lose them, my heart goes out to you.
Hope everyone is full of hope for 2019.

2 for me for today. I have nothing in so know it will stay as two. I am so tempted to do the really rubbish joke of 'not had a drink this year so far'.
I'll do SNC shaggy. I will do 5. I have done 4 so far. xSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330
Starting afresh.
You can do anything if you put your mind to it. x0 -
Hello hello, Happy New Year everyone. I finished December on 14/15 and am reporting today as my first AF day of 2019.
I'm aiming for 15 in January and sincerely hoping to achieve it this time!!Say what you mean.. mean what you say... without being mean.0
