Hello LoopyLisaJane. Good to have you here. I can relate to your story and I’m sure many others can too. This thread has definitely helped me cut back and be more accountable to myself. I also use the app Drink Less to record whether it’s an AF day or how much I’ve drunk on non AF days.

I did sign up for the 30 day challenge in November. I found the daily emails useful on some levels. I did slip at times but got back on again.

    17/16 for me please

LLJ can I ask a question please?

You mentioned your husband is AF. Did he ever raise the issue of your drinking?

  • Hi LLJ.

This thread has been great over the year for a lot of us. We all have different stories, but our aim is the same and we can support each other. x

Morning all, 23/21 for me today please. :)
  • 28 AF Dec and that's probably it for me now as off away for the New Year with friends.

Hope everyone has a lovely New Year's Eve whatever you're up to x
  • I found this thread by accident going through other DFDs, and it couldn't have come at a better time. DH and I have long talked about cutting down on alcohol, but we always seem to be waylaid and return to our old habits. He had a health scare after Xmas with an enlarged spleen (eeeeek!) but thankfully it seems that there isn't any underlying issue. We both drink far too much (usually two bottles of red wine between us) far too often (4-5 nights a week). But, we've been AF since Boxing Day, and with DH still feeling poorly, I can't see either one of us inclined to drink at Hogmanay.

My main issue is having a stressful job (with a heavy drinking culture built in). Towards the end of the week, I come home from the office later and later and just want a glass of wine to take the edge off. What do you all do in those situations? I suppose I could make a list of other things I could do instead (take a nice bath, paint my nails, have a hot cocoa) and be prepared for when the stress hits?

CuppaTea - The Drink Less app seems perfect, and we've both downloaded it. It seems so simple, but often just having a visual calendar with the traffic light system can make you pause! I'm also excited to be able to track potential savings with it.

Cathybird, can you please put me down for the annual challenge? I'm going to aim for 5 AF days a week, but I think an annual target of 200 AF days might be a good stretch (but still realistic!) target.
