Good to see that this week has been much better for you.:)

    Thank you so much maman.

Minor condition did flare up after 6 days of drinking. After 6 days AF minor condition now gone.....
What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Annie, as long as you did your best at the interview the rest is in the lap of the gods. People are appointed for all sorts of different reasons, regardless of employment law sometimes, so you can never, ever tell why, or why not, one person is appointed over another. I really hope you find something that pays you enough not to have to worry about money, and that you enjoy. So glad you're in one job at the moment, so that your confidence doesn't nosedive while you're still hunting for the right one.

Huge congratulation, FatRab! A career change is such a massive decision. Your past working life would have involved a lot of attention to detail and high levels of concentration which can only help with the new one. I'm so, so pleased for you.

Not sure if you were tongue in cheek about the shift workers HB. The guys I saw were 2 OAPs and 2 younger. One of the younger ones made a call to explain to his Probation Officer why he was late for his appointment. Didn't say anything about being in the pub! :rotfl:

I was, a bit. However, it's really close to where the fishing fleet ties up, so once the chaps have been out, come back in and offloaded, they've earned a pint. (I love your bit about the phone call!)

This year I've developed a minor health issue which is exacerbated by alcohol. What I find scary is that at times of great stress - like last week - I can drink knowing it will cause me trouble - it's only minor trouble but nevertheless ...it reminds me of Georgie Best etc who drank their way through a new liver...(not that I'm anything like Georgie Best)

(((Hugs))) Shaggy. That's what the habit of booze does to most of us. The idea of being able to stop after two is about as honest as a bloke saying, 'I love you' to get a woman into bed. Lovely, comfortable, self-deluding beliefs.

Watching Best go from the footballer who had everything money could, and couldn't, buy was a tragedy unfolding before everyone's eyes. Paul Gascoyne is going pretty much the same way, although I'm not sure he was ever as blessed by life as Bestie was. It's just so sad and the waste makes me want to weep.

Apparently Bestie was in a hotel room once with Miss World, throwing his casino winnings about when room service arrived with a bottle of champagne. 'Tell me, Mr Best' said the bellboy, 'Where did it all go wrong?'

    7/31, please.
    Better is good enough.

Shaggy, my Saturday night outing has just been cancelled due to illness (not mine) so I can join you on both days for the weekend challenge, if I may? ... I'm quite pleased about it in a way since there tends to be too much spending and eating in the runup to Christmas.

Hey Shaggy good to hear you're feeling better too :)

Has anyone else read "Drinking: A Love Story"? It's a good read. There seem to be a crop of newer drinking memoirs about - "Girl Walks Out of a Bar", etc - this isn't a plug for any of them since I haven't read them but I do recommend "Drinking: A Love Story".

Thanks HB, yes there were a lot of situational examples I gave at interview that demonstrated transferable skills, so I think that put me in good stead.

Still pinching myself, can't believe I've made it through the process. There were 23,000 applicants!
You can have results or excuses, but not both.
