  • 5/14 for December, one last night in a pub and one tonight. Xmas work lunch tomorrow. Undecided about drinking alcohol. Either way I’m pleased with my start in December.

Bad news everyone, I'm afraid I won't be running for Prime Minister after all. On the plus side, I GOT THE NEW JOB!

Will update tomorrow when I'm back on the laptop, working up in Aberdeen tonight for my sins....

So I'm assuming you got safely through the medical despite the man flu. Well done! And be sure to wrap up warm in Aberdeen. :D

Not sure if you were tongue in cheek about the shift workers HB. The guys I saw were 2 OAPs and 2 younger. One of the younger ones made a call to explain to his Probation Officer why he was late for his appointment. Didn't say anything about being in the pub! :rotfl:

    Congrats Fatrab!!
AF for me again today, making 5/3 for this week's SNC and 6 for December.
I'm not sure I want to drink tomorrow now, I don't want to spoil it... very strange behaviour for me!!

Thanks! Yes, god knows how I passed the hearing test as I was totally bunged up!

I received a conditional offer last week subject to medical, Disclosure checks and references, which must have all came back ok as the confirmed offer now been made.

I've been in the construction industry for 26 years, working in construction material testing laboratories all over the UK and Irelend. My new job...... trainee train driver!!! It's a massive jump, going back to the classroom to retrain in something completely new. But I haven't been happy in my current role for years, and I spent a long time trying to figure out what the right move would be.

Anyhoo, 5/20 and 3/4 for this week please. Can you put me down for just the 1 weekender please Shaggy as I have a night out this Saturday with a mate that I don't get to see very often so it's going to be a messy one.

    Thanks everyone :)
You can have results or excuses, but not both.

When we left at about 10.30 a.m., there was a group of guys just getting their 3rd round of beers in! It made me feel positively saintly.:)

There are pubs like that in parts of LDN
What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Cathybird, it had reached the point when it was the most important relationship in my mind OR booze. I couldn't have both. No contest. I know some people faced with that choice don't manage to make it, but maybe they're further down the booze road than I was, who knows.

This year I've developed a minor health issue which is exacerbated by alcohol. What I find scary is that at times of great stress - like last week - I can drink knowing it will cause me trouble - it's only minor trouble but nevertheless ...it reminds me of Georgie Best etc who drank their way through a new liver...(not that I'm anything like Georgie Best)
