There are eight, fully eight, of the wretched things at the bottom of our road, so late night revellers chuck all sorts of 'food' away when they're on their way home after visiting said establishments. This dog thinks it's his own street buffet.

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

  • Trying a new AF beer - I had to pop to the supermarket for a couple of bits and it was on offer. FreeDamm, a Spanish beer and it's 0.0%. £4 for 6 in Asda :)

If you're in East Anglia you've probably tried it, but Adnams AF Broadside (or was it Ghost Ship:D?) is the first I've tried which was in any way acceptable. It was a bit of a refresher before our Friday night meal and wine back in the summer.

Although Friday nights can be a bit heavy, drinking with food smooths it out, and we have reasonable quality wine(s) chosen to go with the food. As I play football on Sunday I can even go without on Saturday night!

I love my wine and have around 4+ dozen bottles tucked away, but as some of them are difficult to replace I don't just open them willy-nilly: it's got to be the right occasion. Spend the same amount but drink better quality and hence less is my motto!

That was the glass of wine that used to scupper me in the early days of drinking! I soon learned that if I drank on an empty stomach while cooking, I'd go hell for leather the rest of the evening so I cut it out and took my first mouthful with my first mouthful of food. Stuck to that for about 15 years, too, although in the end it didn't stop me drinking waaaaay to much (for me).

The woman in the friend couple I'm most worried about starts her evening with a glass of wine while cooking and says it is her favourite of the day.

If you can stop after one or two, you're fine!

Thanks HB. I do know where to stop, often take a break mid evening but it's a trigger I know I need to work on.:)

Put me down for 3 again please Shaggy. I'm not ready to commit to regular Fridays yet but I'm working on it.

Out for lunch today and a planned drink. Have a good day all.:)
