That's how I feel after drinking these days - hence the abstinence - I have wondered if it's an age thing

It might be an age thing too Shaggy but I'm almost certain it's mostly to do with this thread and the benefits gained from AFDs. I might be wrong! :)

    Howdy!

    4/5 SNC
13/26 AFDs for today please as definitely no drink tonight, need to drive into city centre later to collect some food from our favourite Indian restaurant. We're having a curry day in work tomorrow so I'm bringing my favourite dish - South Indian Garlic Chilli Chicken!

Maman - I don't enjoy drinking while I'm cooking, I tend to forget that it's there and by the time I remember it's usually gone warm!

I thought it might be an age thing initially too, but I've since decided it's about how frequently and how much we drink. Once you cut down beyond a certain level, typically a glass or two every evening, and go fairly consistently without booze for a week or 10 days, and do that regularly, I now believe that tolerance starts to be affected quite markedly - unless and until we start drinking regularly again, even if it's only small amounts.

So, what I'm saying is, if you used to drink more than you think you should have, and you cut down drastically either quickly or gradually, if you then go back to wanting to drink regularly, intially at least, your reaction is quite likely to be quite strong to a fairly small amount. And by small amount, I'm talking one or two drinks at most over an evening.

Yes, I agree with this, Honey Bear - it's all good, too - I'm glad the body changes and can't take it, it's better that way.

The thing I didn't quite expect though was that having a drink at home now feels really rather pointless. It's almost boring. It's not so long ago I really looked forward to the first drink of the evening when I got home. I'm happy it's changed, though. Drinking with friends with food still feels enjoyable, and convivial, probably because I don't overdo it these days (with very occasional exceptions) or go out that often, so I feel it's okay to keep going with that, for now at least.

I must say three bottles of red plus a load of whisky sounds like a lot :(

    Good afternoon everyone,

    11 please Shaggy.
Went to spin this morning, asthma really playing up coughed my way through the final 15 minutes. Not convinced this is a good form of exercise for me!

44 days in a row without alcohol

    Well done you :T:T
What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

We used to have a Great Dane and he was the worlds worst for needing out through the night, and he wouldn't go in the garden, he had to be walked! Never known a dog that could wee so much in my life and we've had numerous dogs since I was born.
