Spent the last two days trying to complete my self assessment, enough to drive anyone to drink. Note to self "must be more organised next year!!"
I find doing my tax return in stages helps me deal with it. I don't do it online though, I give the figures to someone else to do that bit. I'd had a stab at it in May, and then it nagged at me for months until I had another look a couple of weeks ago, and discovered all I had to do was the covering letter which always needs a few extra figures but that are easy to find because I keep records of all of my finances in a spreadsheet. If I had to start from scratch every year I'd be totally incapable of submitting it.
Well done Shaggy and Fatrab. I'm failing miserably on the poundage front so I'm full of admiration for everyone that can manage it.
AnnieG, it's so, so easy to fall back into well-established habits. I'm terrified of it, which is why I daren't even have one drink. Good luck with it, and keep doing what you're doing. Post here - it'll help enormously.
What I think most people do is start off with fantastic intentions, post regularly, have a blip and then think they can't admit that, so stop posting until they get back on the straight and narrow. Somehow that doesn't seem to happen so we never hear from them again. Blips happen to ALL of us - my inability to even cut down on my sugar consumption is 100% booze related and it's a four year blip so I've got every respect for anyone that is having a go at dealing with their Achilles heel, regardless of which particular drug of choice we're struggling with.
15/31 please, Shaggy.Better is good enough.0 -
I'm 7lbs away from the initial target that I set (14st 13lbs), but I'm going to set a new target as soon as I reach the current one as I'm determined to be 14st by Xmas.
Amazing! And Good Luck....:TWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -

Dieting is mysterious to me to be honest. Sometimes I can get into the zone easily, sometimes I really try but it just doesn't happen. Like, last year I gained 13 pounds. The previous year I gained 8 pounds. The one before I lost 9 pounds, the one before lost 1 stone 4 pounds. This year I've lost 1 and a half stone.
So some years I gain, some years I lose.....but I'm not sure why tbh...I never stop trying though! I always have a diet and an exercise spreadsheet on the go and always weigh myself no matter how much I'm dreading it...
I took to watching weight loss TV progs for a while - I remember one mantra that stuck with me "Eat less, Move More" - perhaps that sums it up...
Hope that doesn't sound preachy! I didn't mean it to....
Got easily into my size 12 jeans this morning.... it's been awhile...another victory...What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. I’ve managed to reach 9/20 AFDs for October so far.
If my calculations are correct I need to pull back another AFD from my planned 2 drinky days per week.
As I’m on my hols this week, I might not quite make it.....but hey, it’s all in the right direction xx
Thanks for your support guys and gals
