9/12 for today please Shaggy - forgot when I set my target for this month that I am away on holiday next week but should make it OK if I remain AF until Thursday - don’t think there will be any bonus days this month though ;)

I had such a bad week last week - my units were too high and I only had 2 AFDs mostly because of the mouse incident and some social stuff....

.....not good enough...and I feel carp because of it...I did not sleep well last night..

...I was thinking about triggers - eg, stress, it just being the weekend, sunny days, winter days, etc etc - so does anyone have any helpful tips to ignore those triggers? Or is it just that you've 100% decided not to drink and you just don't...
What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Mind you the previous week I did 5 nights AF and 15 units so I guess it isn't all bad...

  • 7/10 and 2 for the SNC already please Shaggy

At the moment I am deciding not to drink and knowing my triggers helps me head myself in the right direction eg sunny evening tonight, oh look you would like a drink in the sun but that isn’t in your plan tonight. Yada yada... Some urges don’t last long and many aren’t as bad if I’m not Hungry or Tired.

I don’t have the answers though Shaggy!
  • Morning all

13 please Shaggy and 1 for the SNC

Shaggy - I wish I knew the secret. I know my triggers and yet I've still not learnt to guard myself against them or to ignore them. Friday nights are one of mine....having a glass of wine while cooking dinner and then just carrying on. This week we have my grandson overnight so no wine for me. And it won't bother me at all as he will be keeping me busy :rotfl:So maybe its all about changing the routine slightly? I wish I knew.

Busy day today. Got to go and check on Mum and Dads house. They are staying on the south coast for a week. Weather looks awful today down there so do hope they intend to stay indoors!

    Have good Tuesdays all

  • Shaggy this is why I find it much easier to not drink rather than cut down. My willpower is rubbish but if I know I'm aimimg for an AFD it helps.

    16/25 today please

Shaggy, one of my triggers used to be getting home from work, when I would have a glass of wine or a g&t to destress (then needless to say I would just keep on drinking from there). So I used to have ginger beer with angostura bitters in it when I got in the door instead, and that made me feel I had had a drink (somehow the bitters made all the difference - I think otherwise it would just have felt like a soft drink). Time passed and I stopped needing the ginger beer even. Maybe you just need some alternative drink, or some alternative activity to distract you, until the trigger goes away?
