I love this Ginger Beer - I've only ever had it in Wagamamas
It's so lovely! What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
Shaggy, I remember her - her username was piggles1 - she vanished shortly after I started, not related I hope  - she had MS and her housing situation sounded pretty bad. I just went back through the threads (work is a bit slow today :rotfl:) and she hasn't posted for a couple of years now, a great shame, hope she's doing okay.
I often think of her - funny isn't it- she was doing so well and then she got rehoused and it sounded so awful...so sad...What do we do when we fall? Have you been in A$da recently? They've got the huge bars on offer again (I think they're £2.25 iirc), spotted them yesterday but managed to resist. It's the only mainstream sweetie that I have a soft spot for. I have to avoid Hotel Choc whenever I'm in Glasgow as I cannot resist their dark chocolate bars
Fortunately for me Asda is further than any other supermarket around here apart from Wait*ose. I'd be sunk if they had massive bars on offer - a couple of winters ago Morribunds had Cadb*rys on special offer, huge things reduced to clear. I bought two, which was just the biggest mistake ever. I'm trying so hard to break the sugar / chocolate habit and every day something happens to stymie me.I do wish I could just stop drinking altogether but it seems such an ingrained part of my life that I don't think I'll ever fully stop. But having gone from 5-6 days per week to 4 or 5 days per month I'm pretty happy with what I've achieved so far.
I think that's as good as it gets, to be honest. I'm terrified that if I had one I'd be back to doing what I used to do, but if you can moderate you've cracked it completely. I tried to moderate for years and I just can't.
I don't recommend giving up completely unless the person is completely sure that they want to commit to it because nothing else has worked.
I, too, think about Piggles. She sounded as though she was having a really tough time and struggling to cope with it all. Lots of people just stop posting, not just on this thread, but on other ones where they are regulars, and then ... nothing. (I'm a Flylady, and I can't tell you how many people just disappear.) It really upsets me.
18/30 please, Shaggy.Better is good enough.0 -
Shaggy, oh do you know I came across that brand of ginger beer elsewhere this week - another recommendation - I'll take that as a sign, must give it a go :rotfl:
Re piggles, I think about people who used to post too - satchmo, and DebJay - Dizzy Imp too, though think she's still around MSE elsewhere. It was interesting going back over the threads as you can see there are the stalwarts of the thread, people who have been posting all this while - then there are others who were posting back in the day, stopped, then made a comeback more recently - and then there are the ones who post for a while and then vanish. It does sometimes take quite a few goes to crack a habit like drinking so the one thing I hope is they feel free to come back if they want to.
Honey Bear, "Morribunds", ha ha :rotfl: - I enjoyed that joke!
Re supermarkets, I actually try to get food delivered most of the time as it stops that thing where chocolate and/or booze just happens to mysteriously fall into your basket!0 -
