I went to the supermarket and it struck me how much cheaper my shopping is now I rarely buy wine. This falls into the category of the from the school of the blindingly obvious but I don't think I had appreciated how much I spent.
Another nice thing about taking control of drinking
Yes I'd be curious to know how much money I've saved by not drinking. I might try to work it out. It's a total win-win really.0 -
10 days straight is a heck of an achievement Stitchy. What your experience also points out is that very often we drink because it seems to be expected of us, regardless of whether we really want to or not. If that knowledge helps you in the future to decide that, actually, much as you like the person you'd really rather not drink but just want to share the celebration without alcohol, you can - because you don't actually want to drink and that's okay too.Morning all, 6/17 for me, a whole weekend done AF! Breaking the habit of drinking is often a tougher nut to crack than the booze itself! Good on you for getting through an entire weekend.Yes I'd be curious to know how much money I've saved by not drinking. I might try to work it out. It's a total win-win really.
I worked it out when I stopped, and for the first two and a half years would spend that money on things I had always wanted but thought I couldn't afford. They're permanent additions to my life, too, which makes it even better, like masses of huge blue pots for the sundeck so that it looks fabulous and I see them every time I look out of the kitchen - which I do a lot.
21/31 please, Baileys.Better is good enough.0 -

I think it depends on what you're hoping to achieve. Yes, it is annoying when you've had a drink and not enjoyed it so 'wasting' a potential AF day. Conversely, if your aim is to cut down and to drink sensibly on the days you choose to drink then you've achieved that!:T
Target day for me today.:D Hoping to get a few more in before the end of the month.
