Builder has hidden poop in my floors!

Hi, I don't know if this is the right place - sorry if it needs moving!

Anyway, we have had a joiner and plasterer in for the last 4 weeks, and we discovered today that one of them has had a poop and hidden it under out kitchen floor! They even screwed the boards down to make sure it wasn't found - it was a fluke we even looked, as kitchen flooring was due to be fitted today.
So we had the boards up Sat 20th, and we didn't screw them down, then it was noticed they had been screwed down Friday 26th, so it has happened between those dates.
I have had the joiner back Monday 22nd as his work needed redoing - and the plasterer has been there during the week to finish little bits.
I wasn't happy with the joiners work and had told him this at the weekend before he came back, and the boards have been screwed down with 4 inch nails and drilled right in, so I have a gut feeling it was him. I have spoke to the gaffer (the work is done through one man providing the workman etc) and he's been and seen the mess tonight, but his workers are denying it all (obviously).
I have rang the police to report it and asked for all the time sheets from the gaffer (who is happy to help, cause he's worried about his reputation) - but is there anything I can actually do? They've put poo covered toilet roll and wood pieces down there, so all the wiring and pipes need cleaning, which will be my job no doubt, and now I'm having all the floor boards lifted tomorrow to check for more surprises.

Tl:DR - builder left poo under floorboards, and screwed it all down knowing we were having flooring fitted today....is there anything I can do???
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

  • Surely there was a smell?
  • It was wrapped in a carrier bag and all the windows have been open to try and dry the house out (we have no heating either atm).
As soon as the board was up the smell was revolting - so probably would have smelt it soon

I have heard it suggested this only happens if people feel they have been treated badly, someone has been banging on to them about how lucky they are or got an amazing bargain, or not accorded the respect they deserve:

Can you think of any reason why this might have happened?

Most people would probably not shout from the roof-tops about the incident..

If this is true and you are not a poo troll then you are a drama queen.

Any smell would be very short lived- a few days at most.

It was in a carrier bag- so presumably contained. Why do the wires need cleaning if it was in a bag? It will rot over time anyway and after a few days it would be hard. On reflection this story must be false.

You really think that this is worth police time and attention? What do you think they could have been doing instead of pandering to you?

I bet the police could hardly contain themselves with laughing!

  • I have all the text messages I have sent, and not once have I even been harsh - I'm not living there, so I have just let them go at their own pace as long as it's done properly.
I did say that I wasn't happy with the work, such as the loft ladder was too long and you could't use it, but the gaffer saw the work and agreed it wasn't up to scratch, so he told him not me.....I had the gaffer back tonight due to more problems with joiner work, and he agreed to come back and finish the work personally tomorrow (and then we found the poop!).
Even if they weren't happy that I'd 'moaned' about their work, it's still extreme! I cannot get my head round someone actually doing it if I'm honest!

The poop was on the outside of the bag, and sort of rolled up. So not even in the bag properly.
They have also thrown dirty toilet roll and wood sticks covered in poo down there, which has covered the other bits in poop.

The police are investigating it because the main boss told me to report it since none of his guys admitted to doing it, and I think someone doing this sort of thing shouldn't get away with it!

Have you paid the joiner yet? If not, return the poo to him by post when you send him his cheque.

Investigating- what -taking DNA and finger prints?

    What exactly is the crime?

You are bonkers to waste valuable police time but i still cant believe that anyone could really be so stupid as to call the police.

You must be a poo troll escaped from Mumsnet (who have a big problem with perverts starting threads about poo so that they can get off on it)

Fair enough, you don't agree with my initial call to the police, but I am not a troll and I was just asking for advice, that's what this forum is for, and I've had good advice previously from here.

  • A poo troll escaped from mumsnet- sometimes I miss the 70s where the most controversial thing was seeing a woman drinking a pint of mild.
