Onourway up I have given you a turtle number (for this month). As there is only a third of the month left adjust any number targets and 'play' along. Use this month as a practice month eg you could start your stock check and meal planning now, maybe try a week's meal plan and then start putting things togather for next month. Think about things like budgets (if you don't have a set figure for what you are spending. work out a rough figure then next month jot down everything you spend to get a more realistic figure).
Don't try to do everything at once or make huge changes - if you think your food budget is £50 over what it should be, reduce it by £5 or £10 per month (5% or 10% if that works better for you). Don't forget to allow for occasional bulk purchases - as my sons are all grown up (ish) and only one at home, washing tablets now come in this category for me and I prefer to buy bulky/ heavy items all together and either have a home delivery or a taxi from the SM.
If you are struggling with any particular aspect of the challenge, please ask. Turtles have a lot of experience (even in building Mayan temples, the Parthenon and crocodiles) so someone will have advice. Cutting out negative habits gives quicker wins than adopting good new ones eg taking lunches from home instead of paying out for 'meal deals' (as an incentive add up how much I daily spend costs for a year) and always having a quick emergency meal in the freezer rather than opting for a takeaway when you are late or have had a an emergency.

Rather pleased with DS3's polar landscape thing we made - used a shoebox lid (the kind which is attached, rather than the shallow lift off sort) so we had a high-ish 3-sided open view. The box handily had a white inner, too - saving us painting it/ sticking white paper on. I remembered that one of the boxes which a new radiator had been delivered in was full of that polystyrene packaging stuff, so DS3 and I found some bits and made a hilly area, a snow cave and broken off bits of floating 'ice' in the icy water (sparkly pale blue wrapping paper saved from about 10 years ago for crafts
) and stuck some polar bears on (ELC animals from our animal box) - simple, but looks pretty good and cost nothing but time and DS3 enjoyed it
May squidge a seal head together for him from blutack (to 'pop up' out of the 'water') if he wants (our seal was as large as the biggest polar bear.....)
I really don't like craft homeworks - they've studied hot and cold places and then had this to do for half term (he could have chosen hot but he wanted polar bears in it!) - I'm not sure it taught him anything else. Most of the craft-y homeworks are done by parents, in my experience (he had a sewing one when aged 6) - I know I'm biased because I'm not a fan of crafts anyway!

A spend day, spent a little on food and bought an alarm clock (still trying to fix the sleep pattern). Got some stuff done, went for my appointment, ordered a repeat prescription item, caught the bus back to the bus station as it made me dizzy and disorientated. Bought all the cards mum needs for the next two months (7 cards when the shops were only open for 10 more minutes - including two lots for twins which had to be different but the same ie one not better than the other). Collected recycling and put the bin out.
Today I am grateful for the NHS, the woman being helpful even though I was 5 minutes late, my favourite toilet in the hospital, a good book to read, finding the cards I needed quickly (less strict budget than usual as I managed to use 16 from mum's stash and these were all for nice people), being able to rest when I got home (poured myself onto the bed), for being able to wear my red dress without being self-conscious, for having lots of paper flower ideas (and 'baskets' - will be woven from card and paper), for the alarm clock (I can let myself have 3 hours or 5 hours sleep, whatever there is time for, rather than forcing myself to stay awake for fear of sleeping too long and being late). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0
