I'm really hoping for some sun! We've had nothing but rain for the past week. The forecast is supposed to be good here tomorrow so fingers crossed!

Hi Sunshine Girl, yes this week we've managed to get out with the pooch. Yesterday was really hot so we didn't take her out for too long, but when we came home we sat out in the garden. Today we went to a local place which has a huge lake and gardens. It cost us £12 each to get in, but I managed to get £4.50 off with Tesco Clubcard lol, so we paid £19.50 in the end. We were there for three hours so I felt it wasn't bad value. We did think about getting an annual ticket, but I think hubby might go more than me as he likes taking pictures of plants so we're not sure.

It's my 40th next year and I want to do something special as I rarely bother. We're both keen on new york and early in the year (when it's my birthday) tends to be cheaper so we're going to look into it.

Hope you're enjoying your weekend :)

Not sure where you are in the uk , but if you are near Staffordshire I may have been to the same place last weekend .

I love New York, have been 9 times . Going early in the year is cheaper , but boy it can be chilly. Adds to the fun though.

Yes I'm near Staffordshire so it probably is the same place! :D

Yes, I've read its cold and I'm really averse to the cold - hate it! So I best start thinking of thermals lol!

It's a lovely place you went , I enjoyed my time there the Staffordshire place .

Once when we went in January it snowed it was very magical. Let me know your plans if you decide to go . Before you book accommodation in Manhattan , look around at other areas it can be a lot cheaper . Just depends on how long you plan to go for and what you want to do.

Thank you, I think we will go. We've talked about other places, but nothing seems to excite us as much as New York. I'm looking on Trip Advisor at all the touristy things we can do! Are there certain areas you'd recommend staying which are good value for money?

The hotel we have stayed in the most is The Salisbury hotel up near Central Park. There are so many though in Manhattan you just have to go with your budget . My tip is to list what you want to see , and take it from there , the planning is exciting .

We're making a list now...there's lots of free stuff, which is always a bonus. I think we'd like to stay near Central Park as there's a few things round there that we'd like to visit. Yes, I love the planning bit. Thanks for the hotel recommendation, I'll take a look :D

Just an update, I'm not sure whether I've mentioned this before, but I found out last week that I've been offered a place on a course to train in a therapy. The interview was pretty horrendous so I didn't think I'd get on, but I'm really pleased as I think it'll help my career and I can use it in my private practice too.

Hubby has found out he'll be made redundant in early 2020 :( I'm having to think about whether going part-time is really feasible now as we don't know if he'll get redundancy or be able to move to the new employer. Dropping four days is quite a cut in salary so I'm a bit worried that might make things more difficult for us financially.

Our New York trip in March feels more important now, as we might have to forego any holidays for a time after that. I think it's the uncertainty that's harder. I think hubby is going to wait to see what happens, although that makes me a little anxious :o
