I bet the kitchen looks great! So nice to have so much fresh decor.
There's an added bonus to leaving the sitting room for now: after Christmas I always think things look dreary and need cheering up, and you won't need to do the rest of the house as it's still newly done so a new look for the living area will be perfectly timed. (Apart from it being too cold to air away the smell of paint, but the other side of that is that the heating will be on so it'll dry quickly).I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. The living room is more likely to get done next spring/summer Cherry. It will involve plastering, new flooring and a new sofa. I’m still undecided what to do about the fireplace, we need a new fire, although it’s never cold enough in there to have it on with the huge radiator, not sure whether I want to get rid of the surround. It will be a big spends day today as will be paying for the work. Can’t believe how quick he’s done it.Will need to buy a curtain pole and I’ll probably get some voile panels similar to the ones in the bedroom as this room isn’t overlooked. It will only be used as an office/gym.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5

It's going to be a big job then! I don't know how I might approach the fireplace in your situation - my favourite suggestion is a log burner but that's never going to work in a gym.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Re the fireplace surround - if you don't need the fire for warmth why don't you just get rid of it and open up the wall for more space. I remember watching Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen in a homes programmes some years ago and he remarked that times had changed with regard to the fireplace being the space in the home that people gravitated to. It's because years ago before we had central heating folk would sit around the fire for warmth listening to the radio in the evening. With the advent of central heating and television the focal point for families has changed to the television! Of course quite a few people still like the look of a nice fireplace, whether modern or traditional, and they've become more of an interior design statement. If you're not that bothered though you could free up the wall for a nice piece of furniture. Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

We took the fireplace out of our last house because it just wasn't needed and it took up far too much room in what was not a huge room.4

I still like a fireplace. I hate one of my relatives living room which hasn’t got one and it feels like a doctors surgery 😂😂😂 mmmm…..maybe that’s because the conversation there rotates around their various ailments though 😂😂😂
He hasn’t messed about doing the plastering 👍January spends - £587.584 -
This is the sort of thing I’m thinking about. Not a real log burner though.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6

He finished just after lunch. He’s done a great job.I haven’t exactly been idle, have painted the fence running down my drive almost 30ft of it, apart from the last few panels as I’ve run out of paint. Looks really good if I do say so myself 😁I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5
