Sorry don’t get that at all lol - you’re all just creating extra work for yourselves imo. Regular spends card use and pay off the balance when the statement is due - just set direct debit to pay the balance off, job done and don’t even have to think about it. Not sure why paying for the spends around a month in arrears is an issue and leaving it until the statement date isn’t ‘dangerous territory’ imo, not having a clue what you’re spending or not caring how much in the first place is, granted.
Before anyone says anything about the fact I owe money on cards; the above is what I’ve done with my company card for years and years which I have never built a balance on and also what I do with my day to day spends card for the best part of a year - that’s not built a balance either. Just a suggestion - save some time transferring money about all the time.3 -
Also paying off as you go means you have no credit "footprint". As you have a credit card with, according to the CRAs, no usage showing tends to mean you cannot manage credit, which means if you really need it (think re-mortgage or new roof) you have no record of paying off debt. Whilst interest rates at the moment are really rubbish, if you transfer money to a savings account as you use it on the cards, you could at least get some interest paid. I started using my cc like this back when my current account had 8% interest. It would have been downright rude not to! I guess we will never get back to that but if it means we never have to see 16 & 17% interest on mortgages I can live with that.

I think it’s all down to personal preference, the same with debt busting. Some people pay highest interest bearing debt first others pay the smallest balance off.MFW 2022 #71 £4400/£44005

Happy Friday 😎
We all have our own ways of dealing with budgeting/paying off debt, it's all about whatever works for you. A compromise would be to ring-fence the money spend on a cc in the current account ready to clear the balance when it comes out. When Mr SA was well and working he was a nightmare putting things on the card, I never knew where we were with it. When he first became ill and couldn't work I really didn't think we'd be able to manage without his income. He was self employed and didn't have a regular amount coming in, some weeks it was great, others not so. If it rained he couldn't work, he was a roofer. At least now I now exactly what's coming in and have control over where it goes, it did help that I got a promotion at work 3 years ago which made a significant difference financially.
In other news I've been for a just over 5k run this morning at 5.30am - yes 5.30!! Great to see very little traffic on the roads but quite a few fellow runners. Beautiful sunny morning too. Will have to do a yoga/Pilates session later to balance it out.
Today will be NSD 5/15.
Making a mushroom, spinach and chickpea curry for my dinner tonight. I've got spinach growing in the garden but it's not ready for picking yet, the coriander topping will be from the greenhouse though. Mr SA is having fish, chips and mushy peas, none of which has been grown in the garden 😆
Speaking of gardens, I still haven't done that pesky weeding on the drive or paving at the back so really need to get round to that today.
Have a good one, the weekend is nigh 😁I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)7 -

Have been for a long walk this morning to the country park I can see from my bedroom window, 10,000 steps from my house but just 10 minutes by car. Altogether including walking there, round the country park and back home have done 25,000 steps. Shattered now though, have worn the dog out too. Even closer is a farm shop which is good to know for future reference.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6

Managed NSD 6/15 today. Was tempted to stop by for lunch in one of the many pubs we passed on the way home but the dog was hungry and it wouldn’t be fair on her. Plus it had started to cloud over and we thought it might rain, although it didn’t in the end. We’ll do this trip again but go better prepared with food for the dog and factor in a sit down for me. It was a long walk for me without a pit stop, just slightly short of 10 miles without a break. There are lakes at this park but we didn’t see them, maybe next time. It’s the ankle Mr SA trashed suffers a bit with long distances and no rests.Mr SA is all geared up for tonight’s match. Whoever wins it’s going to be noisy round here tonight with us being 50/50 Anglo/Italian in this area. Flipping heck no sleep tonight, fireworks, pipping horns etc 🥱I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5
