Not seeing them Christmas Day sadly. They always stay home Christmas Day because the GKs just want to play with their presents. If they changed plans and came to us it wouldn’t be fair on DIL’s parents and I understand why they wouldn’t want to be driving all over. They’re coming to exchange presents Christmas Eve, so we’ll see them very briefly. We can watch the GKs open their Christmas Eve boxes via video link, not the same but needs must. The vegan mince pie was lovely, glad I bought two. We were the only ones at the Christmas market to start off. There weren’t many stalls so not a lot to see but it was lovely and sunny so a very pleasant morning and 10k steps hit well before lunchtime. I bought a lovely wicker tea cup and saucer with a plant in it, well worth £12.99.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)7

That's a shame but it can't be helped. Thank goodness for video links! Well done on your step count

I’m totally gutted about the new tiers and rules. We were going down to dds but she is in teir 4 so that won’t be happening. They’ve only just told gdds and I’ve had one upset gdd on the phone. I was trying to console her but felt like crying along with her. Dd said it is rife near her though so I suppose it’s for the best. Doesn’t stop me being gutted. I’ll have to go out food shopping tomorrow as I wasn’t expecting to have to get any. I least I have an emergency turkey in the freezer.I’m pleased you’ll at least get to give the presents on Christmas Eve.January spends - £587.589

My dd who lives fairly near will get a garden visit from me on Wed. to drop off presents etc and then we wont see them again until the situation eases. Sorry for anyone with terminally ill relatives for whom it may be their last Christmas. A lousy situation for all8

On a local news FB page, someone commented their father is terminally ill and this was going to be his last Christmas. They would be spending it with him whatever the consequences. Under those circumstances I would do the same. I have a feeling there’s something similar going on with the couple across the road from me, haven’t seen the bloke for a while now and their son and GKs are there every day visiting.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)10

Well I’ve been to a Christmas market, had a mince pie and watched Love Actually so feel slightly more Christmassy 🎅🎄Mr SA moaned about the film and went upstairs to watch war films. I absolutely adore Love Actually, that and Christmas Carol with George C Scott playing Scrooge are my favourite Christmas films.
Mr SA was a bit weird at the market and imagined he saw a cafe with seats. It was just a greenhouse type thing with wooden bits and bobs in it, certainly not a cafe. Must’ve been wishful thinking. A cafe that’s open and you can sit inside - what’s that 😩I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)11 -

I don't mean that to come across harshly and it certainly isn't meant that way. It is just a sad fact of the times we find ourselves in.
I must admit that the huge increase in new cases brought about by this new strain of C19 has rattled me a bit. It is somewhat worrying just how quickly this new strain has taken hold and increased confirmed cases. It is only a matter of time before it is nationwide and I dread to think just what that means for us all 😥😓🥺11
