I didn’t speak to my mum for days ......David Cassidy did a concert at a football ground near me.....when pop concerts in stadium were a new thing. My mum was very old fashioned and foresaw trouble..... I was in St John Ambulance cadets and had the chance of being on duty - sitting ringside. She wouldn’t let me go - I cried for days as all my friends went and had a fantastic view. I don’t think I ever quite got over it......still gutted I missed him.

    Oh no milann!

I at least got to see The Monkees - my friend and I went to see them at the old Empire Pool at Wembley. Only thing was as we were only twelve our parents insisted we were accompanied so my dad took us up there and waited outside till the concert had finished! He then whisked us away and we were so miffed that we couldn't hang around outside and wait for them to come out like hundreds of other girls were doing! I was quite jealous as an older sister of another friend waited outside and manage to rip a bit of Peter Tork's shirt. She had this little scrap of orange cloth stuck to a piece of cardboard and we all stared at it as if it was the Holy Grail!:rotfl:

    P. S. We were right up in the gods at the concert so the band looked like ants and you couldn't hear them play for all the screaming!

Personally I preferred Davy Jones (from the Monkees) Never got to see them as parents would never allow. Such is life.

De-lurking to add another vote for David Cassidy and to confirm that as he had the same birthday as me that confirmed that I would marry him. Yes of course there was a very significant age gap but it didn't seem insurmountable at the time. I did go and see him a few years ago in about 2005/6 when he did a tour with David Essex, the osmonds (not Donny) and a Bay City Roller. He was dreadful and I felt so let down. David Essex and whichever Bay City Roller it was were fab and Osmonds were good but not David.

I can't see how to say thanks either, where's the thanks button gone?

Is that happening because I use the original version of this site?

I can't stand the newer version which is so clinical and lacking in any character. New site design is so dull:it could be selling insurance.

I use the original version of this site FlyingDonkeys and can see the buttons. Must be just a glitch.

The walking cast is off :j :j Consultant says the bone has healed sufficiently to no longer need it. The break is an unusual one apparently (it would be) but consistent with being hit by a car.

I've had some physio and they've given me one crutch for a bit of support. All round my foot is swollen and painful, although this is normal as I've not been bearing weight on it for so long. I managed well catching all the buses to/from hospital (two each way). Glad I had the crutch as my legs were so wobbly, felt really strange.

No more X-rays until 24 March, have to go for some physio in a couple of weeks but that might be it if all going well. I've got some exercises to do at home.

Bad news is definitely no Insanity for 4 months and no Pilates/Yoga until the physio has seen me again. Have decided anyway to wait until I'm 60 in August then get the gym at a reduced price. In the meantime I'll do some exercises at home, get back to the walking and use the work gym once I'm able to.

I've just had a text from Mr SA saying "cash". I was a bit puzzled as he's only sitting in the next room and I gave him £10 yesterday. On questioning him he thought he'd sent the text to a Loose Women competition :rotfl: See what I have to put up with :rotfl:

Great to hear you have the boot off, and don't have to send cash to MR SA (:rotfl:).

Doctors stopped me from running for months after I broke my arm: don't know if they thought I was more likely to fall over or something but it was a nuisance so I sympathise with you. Meanwhile I suppose you have the post-break exercises to work on and I'm sure you'll fit in lots of walking as soon as you can.

Yes - good news on the boot! Shame about the Insanity and the gym, but as you say you can continue with the home exercises and walking and take advantage of the reduced gym rates in August.

Leg and foot all swollen and in agony tonight :( Just found the ice wrap from when I broke my ankle so that's in the freezer. Also found some ibuprofen gel which seems to be relieving it slightly. Forgot about this part. Might have to resort to industrial strength painkillers if no better by bedtime - or gin :rotfl:

Also still got a long bean bag thing you heat up in the microwave. See I knew it would come in handy one day, doesn't always pay to declutter :D

The hospital are actually classing it as a broken ankle even though the bone I broke is a couple of inches higher up. I wouldn't mind but that bone doesn't hurt at all it's my foot and ankle. The leaflet they gave me says it's all normal when a cast comes off.

No plans to go anywhere tomorrow, need to rest up I think. Told work I'd be back next Tuesday but they say I can work from home as long as it takes and not to rush back. I'll see how I go over the next few days.
