Thank you all ☺
The booster after-effects have been replaced by what feels like a cold coming on. I woke up with a sore throat, headache and blocked up nose this morning. Mr SA said I was burning hot in the night. I don't feel great to be honest although much better than yesterday.
I'm WFH today instead of going into the office, I really don't feel like going in. I'm so thankful I have this option. I can remember in the days before WFH going into work feeling unwell.
I'm thinking about buying a new dehumidifier. I've started to see a few patches of black mould appear on the new paintwork. We have a problem with condensation on the wall of our house that runs alongside the drive, it gets cold and damp in winter. It wasn't a problem last year as it was quite mild but this year it feels colder plus I'm drying washing in the spare bedroom which can't be helping. We do have a dehumidifier but it's ancient and hasn't been used for years. We had a damp company out a few years ago and they said it was condensation so we know it's not the damp course failed.
I've done my usual Monday check of finances and the cc has been cleared. I've also sent the £125 monthly maximum to one of the regular savers. Need to fund the other one before the 20th of the month so might do that later this week.
If I don't buy the dehumidifier today it will be NSD 2 of December. Might see if the old one's working first before I make a decision.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5 -
We bought a new one a while back, @Sun_Addict. We noticed that our old one (which must have been over 20 years old, as I had it at my old house) wasn't needing to be emptied nearly so often. Monitored it for a while & it was only sucking up a small % of its original amount. The new one is more energy efficient & can be put on timer. We have had black mould in the past from condensation & having had the house redecorated, we decided it was false economy to expect our knackered old machine to keep on top of all the moisture from cooking, baths & drying laundry.

Morning all.
I feel much worse today, aching all over, weak legs, sore throat, coughing, sneezing. I suppose I ought to take a Covid test to rule it out although it feels very much like a bad cold/flu.
WFH today. I'm supposed to be going into the office for a meeting tomorrow but I've let them know it's highly unlikely I'll be well enough to go in. Had I not been able to WFH I'd definitely be off sick. Thankfully I've got a fairly quiet, easy week, well in theory anyway.
I think I'll buy the dehumidifier today. I'm torn between what is probably the best one and a cheaper one with good reviews. I should really grab one asap as a lot are selling out.
I also need to get my skates on with Christmas presents for the GKs. I'm always tasked with buying something that seems impossible to get without a lot of research. Oh to be able to wander into a physical shop and pick something up.
Mr M delivery has been and packed away. No missing items or subs. I've finally hit the required spend over the last 5 weeks to get the £38 off greatly helped by stocking up on Mr SA's beer while it's been on 2 for £20. I got the Lynx set Mr SA has been after as it was also half price like in Mr T but then I get another 10% off family discount so cheaper still. I'll wrap it up for Christmas so he's got something to open as he's wearing the jacket already.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5 -
Hope you are ok SA , my friend who has never had Covid tested positive last night . Some great bargains there on the shopping .Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.2

It does indeed sound as though it's some other lurgy you've got, and a horrible one at that. There are so many around. I hope you feel better soon.
I want to look into dehumidifiers and your post is a prompt in the right direction. I've hesitated over making the perfect choice before and the opportunity has passed me by. I do seem to spend quite a lot of time drying windows and airing rooms, it's an older house and we aren't going to get younger (!) so it sounds like an investment to me.
I hope you find one that works for you.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I find my dehumidifier much better at clearing the bathroom than the extractor fan was. I have humidity metres all over the house now. I never realised how much moisture gets in the air from having the gas cooker on & in the bedroom just from breathing.

The more expensive one I was thinking about buying direct from the manufacturer mentioned delivery issues with RM so that decided it for me, I went for the cheaper one with excellent reviews on Am@zon, it’s coming tomorrow. I also found the GKs Christmas presents on there. I think dehumidifiers must be the new air fryers - every man and his dog want one so they’re going out of stock fast.
I’ve sent Mr SA to post my Christmas cards with strict instructions to use the priority postbox on the high street not the little ones on sticks or in the wall that I’m convinced don’t get emptied regularly. There is one local box so old it has VR on it!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3 -
Do get that Covid test done, so that you know. We didn't succumb until the end of September & found that the symptoms of these newer variants are much more 'coldy' than the earlier strains.
I wouldn't be without a dehumidifier. They really do help at this time of year.

Hope you feel better soon.I’ve put our dehumidifier on the landing. It’s surprising how much moisture it picks up.
We’ve had moisture on the wall which runs along the stairs. It get hit hard when the rain comes in a certain way. There isn’t any mould but the paint is blistering and dropping off. We only had it plastered a few years ago. I want to sand it down and patch paint it before Christmas. I think we’ve solved where a lot of the water is coming in…..it was behind a bit of trim around the window which we’ve now had repaired 😃
