Well done for the litter picking. I saw people out doing the same here this morning and I've also seen they get literally bin bags full which is both laudable for them and a shame for the community, if you see what I mean.
Why is it that using up stocks from the fridge etc. is so tricky? Things never seem to fit neatly together!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Sun_Addict said:I think it’s the pre-teen boys who are the biggest litter louts on our park. I’ve seen them abandoning their water bottles, crisp bags, etc at the side of litter bins. I’ve even caught them trying to push over a litter bin. Why?For the same reason they have ripped the lids of the poo bins round here and they burnt out an apple tree on our local green area which used to be an orchard. (Surprisingly the poor tree still produces loads of apples despite the trunk being empty shells.)The fact is some of the youngsters - boys and girls have no respect for property or their surroundings. I have challenged them in the past and was met with abuse, blank stares and why should we clear it up? My answer to the latter was if they want to ruin their worl carry on because I dont care in a few years I will be dead its their world they are polluting.
We do have a lovely lady that attempts to keep the area clean and we pick up a certain amount of stuff especially cans as when they are run over by the council mowers they end up with sharp edges which can danage dogs legs and paws not the mention young children who play there.

It's sad.
I suppose it's to do with group conformity and being seen to be 'tough'. Hopefully they will grow out of it especially if there's a culture of care for communal areas.

I noticed our green area outside our house had loads of rubbish this morning from the younger children playing out. I have left it for today to see if the parents have the decency to come out and clear up after their children but I will collect in the morning when I am out with the dogs. I live on a sqare with house all round and no roads at the front of the houses on 3 sides of the square so for most of the properties it is like an extension of the front gardens. Great for the children and dogs.

I regularly litter pick on the council owned waste ground outside our church. I also regularly moan to the council that the land belongs to them!
One local councilor is fab and regularly litter picks and tends the flower beds in the village high street. Strangely, now that it's nearing local elections, a candidate of a certain red party has suddenly started trumpeting about litter picking.... despite the fact that I've never seen them or their "A team" around and about. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?5 -
I litter pick on this park whenever I’m over there with the dog, I try to keep it down. Others do it too so it’s not just me. Unfortunately school holidays and nice weather produces a lot of litter. It doesn’t seem to be ingrained into kids these days that you don’t throw litter on the ground. I brought my kids up not to, what’s so hard about it 🤷♀️And I thought kids nowadays were all about saving the planet - apparently not!!

Happy Monday
Have been in the office this morning and cleared out my locker. Last day in the old building, I'll be in the new one after my holiday. It will be bit strange after 22 years.
WFH this afternoon as someone has sneaked a meeting in my calendar at the time I would be walking home so came home at lunchtime. If I'd stayed in the office for it I wouldn't get home until 6pm.
It will be NSD 10/12 for April today. This will definitely be the final NSD of April as I have a Mr M delivery coming tomorrow and last minute holiday shopping in town on Wednesday. Thursday we are travelling and I don't do NSDs on holiday 😎 Will go for 10 for May as we don't return home until 8 May.
Had confirmation from Octopus Energy that my May direct debit amount hasn't gone up yet. I guess this is because I'm still in credit. A reprieve for one month at least.
Mr SA is back on heartburn tablets, not sure if it's the Omniprazole or different ones as Mr SA spoke to the GP this morning and can't remember what he said.
Exercise today is walking to/from work (just over 15,000 steps) and a live strength training session at 5.30.
Having a stir fry for tonight's dinner to use up some veg in the fridge. No point leaving veg for DD as she only likes green beans and sweetcorn, she takes after Mr SA for her eating habits!

Hope you have a wonderful holiday and good news on the energy direct debit reprieve.
Just wondering how you manage for travel insurance for Mr SA. I have just purchased some for our Canadian holiday this year (delayed from 2020) and as Mr ES had open heart surgery for valve repair last year I have had to get travel insurance disclosing this with an irregular heart rhythm he has been left with after the surgery and am shocked at the premium. It is an expensive holiday but we have never paid more than about £40 or £50 before and it is 10 times that now.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Best wishes for a lovely holiday, @Sun_Addict - You deserve some sunshine & downtime. Hope Mr SA behaves himself & you come back feeling rejuventated. Hope your move at work goes well too. Always a faff, but it can be refreshing to have a change of base.
