Morning, happy Monday.
Another manic Monday work-wise. Must prioritise the job application, not even started it yet and it's got to be sent off by midnight. I have an old application that I just need to update so hopefully won't take too long. I'd be a fool not to have a go as it's exactly what I'm doing now but at a higher grade/more money. My inbox is full of emails asking me to do x, y and z but they will have to wait.
DD has been coughing all night, she sounds really chesty. Mr SA was complaining about it this morning but she can't help it!
Re Duolingo I've been in the Diamond League for ages but what I have noticed is that if you've done well one week they put you in a section of that league with people who seem to have oodles of time to spare and are on around 1000 points at the end of day 1. I try to stay around the middle if I can. Most days I spend around 30 minutes to an hour on it but last week I was really busy at work and finishing later so I didn't have much time. I'm happy just to keep my streak going. I've certainly learned loads of Spanish, nowhere near fluent but enough to get me by in shops, bars, restaurants etc. To be honest the part of Lanzarote we go to most bar owners are from the UK or Southern Ireland but we go in a great coffee shop where they actually are Spanish.
Today's cleaning task is the bathroom. I need to do a meal plan for the week and update my Mr M order for tomorrow's delivery.
I'm hoping it's going to be NSD 3/10 today but Mr SA keeps going on about this blooming ball of string. Whenever he gets an idea in his head he can never wait it has to be straightaway.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4 -

I feel very frustrated that it is practically impossible to progress quickly to a reasonably advanced level quickly. I used to teach languages for a living.
Which languages are you doing?
I've also made a start on Brazilian Portuguese which I'm finding quite hard but want to be able to communicate with our sponsored child when she no longer has an interpreter). I've temporarily abandoned Latin because the course wasn't nearly as good as the French one, and dipped into a few others but not seriously.
I think there is a huge amount of repetition which works for me as it's built up my confidence but it does stop you whizzing through if you have the capacity to do that.

The job application has gone in. Have spent the best part of the day on it. I got someone to check it over for me who suggested I add a couple of bits but otherwise thought it was a strong application.DD has done a postal test so we’ll see how that turns out. Killed two birds with one stone by taking the dog for a walk to post it. The weather was dire this morning, constant rain, so Mr SA didn’t take her out as normal.Managed NSD 3/10. Don’t think there’ll be another one for a few days though.Watched 2 WW live cook alongs after work, had them on in the background while I was doing housework and cooking the dinner. I enjoyed both of them, they were really interesting.Got another full on work day tomorrow with a meeting in the morning and a virtual team Christmas party in the afternoon. The ‘party’ consists mainly of games and quizzes. I love quizzes but hate games. I was dreading it last year but it was better than I expected so hopefully this one will be the same. My contribution is a Christmas quiz. Personally I would’ve preferred going for a drink and meal like we used to do but obviously Covid has put people off.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)7

Good luck with your application. I hope that your DD has a mild case if her PCR is positive and that she she doesn't pass it on to you or Mr S_A. My sister's stepson caught it but nobody else in the house did so fingers crossed.6
