Cloud storage is all very well, but if it's only in one place, and that place gets flooded/goes on fire etc., then you're stuffed. If the company providing the storage folds, you're also stuffed.
google has more >900,000 servers on 4 continents"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0 -

google has >900,000 servers on 4 continents. NAS drive + google drive should be enough backup these day imo"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0 -

iCloud photos is 80p a month for 50g. I’d pay that and use iCloud.
I’d also download google photos and back them up there too. As above really don’t back them up in just one place.
I have my photos backed up in my google drive. In google photos. iCloud and I have two physical backups. One on an external drive and one USB drive.
Since you don’t have a PC or laptop so you know anyone who would let you use there’s just to make a physical backup of all your pics too?Sigless0 -

One thing to be aware of though, is there have been stories of people who had their Google Account perma-banned because an algorithm didn't like something about their account behaviour (in one case, buying google play credit while on holiday abroad). In every case I was aware of, the accounts were unblocked once a human in the security team looked at it, but it always took a personal referral to the security team, by someone from Google who saw the "Help!" post. because Google's CS won't forward requests or allow users to contact the department directly.
The chances of this happening are of course vanishingly small, but it's still higher than the chance of Google going bust. It's also enough for me to want two separate cloud backup options, just in case.
It's hard to find anything as generous as Googles free unlimited (high quality) option, but Flickr offer 1Tb of photo and video storage for free, as well as the aforementioned promotions from Onedrive or Dropbox. Unless you're shooting a lot of 4k video or very high-res DSLR photos, 1TB will last quite some time.3.6 kW PV in the Midlands - 9x Sharp 400W black panels - 6x facing SE and 3x facing SW, Solaredge Optimisers and Inverter. 400W Derril Water (one day). Yes, I have friends who would let me use their laptop.
Using iCloud seems to be the simplest solution since they are all automatically backed up there from my iPad anyway. I could move the snapfish ones onto google drive and I'll get a flash stick or hard drive to keep a copy on too.0 -

if photos are on a laptop/pc you need to install the google back up and sync software and point to folder(s) that photos are stored in. I would tidy up folder if needed before downloading back up and sync
if on a phone/tablet you just need to install the google photos app and the app should find all photos on the device"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0 -
