  • Still managing to stay within my budget, that has been my main concentration this month.

Our weekend away was amazing and got treated like royalty at the hotel, felt like I had been well pampered.

    Last week I managed 5 AFD's and 3 NSD's.
Aiming for 4 AFD's this week being valentines tonight will have a lovely glass of wine with our meal.
Today will be my second NSD this week.
Weight loss still at 7lbs since middle of Jan, went up a couple of pounds over our weekend away but back now to where it was.

Boyfriend is cooking me a meal tonight, so no wild spending tonight.

Must get cracking on the letters to go out to creditors....

    Happy Valentines everyone

  • Thanks ramblehan, welcome and good luck on your DMP journey. Have you started a diary?

Been having a bit of a dilemma lately. I have been studying to become an accountant for the last 5 and a half years. Became AAT qualified in June 2015 and since Sept 2015 I have been studying ACCA to become a chartered certified accountant. I have completed 7 of the 14 papers, however the price to study has gone from £500 to £850 per paper plus the £100 per exam, so nearly £1000 per paper, with 7 papers to go it has got too expensive for me.

I do not need this qualification for work, but have always wanted to be an accountant since I was 18, at the age of 40 I started studying for this. Work cannot justify funding as it is not a requirement of my job. So I have a few options, I can stop here; move jobs and get study support, but I love my job; or try to fund it myself somehow. I have been trying to study one paper at home since Sept and hope to take the exam in June, but I am not doing as well as I would at uni, my motivation has gone.

Part of me would like to take the knowledge I have gained so far and become a Financial Advisor, but first the DMP has to go and to complete the Diploma I have to have experience in that field and as said I love my job.

Just thought I would put this down in my diary as I have been procrastinating over the last month and it may help to clear my mind. At least I know this DMP must get cleared for a few reasons...

  • On a positive note I have now lost 10lbs in 5 weeks and it still doesn't feel like a diet, just a way of life for me now :j

  • Managed to find a 10 week course with revision/exam questions for a reasonable price to enable me to study for the F8 exam. Going to make a start on that over the weekend. Feeling more hopeful :D

Met a friend for lunch yesterday (used a 40% of code for our meals) and was lovely to catch up. Also out for a meal with my boyfriend tonight. So the weekend will have to be spent at the gym if I am going to maintain my weight this week.

Payday on Monday and have managed to stay within my budget so far this month. Just the meal tonight to pay for which is mainly with clubcard vouchers and then very little expense over the weekend.

AFD so far this week is 4, but looking forward to a drink tonight.

Have a lovely weekend all

Great news on the weight loss, sticking to budget and the course. Can't believe how expensive those exams are, shame work wouldn't fund them, but if you don't need them for your job I can understand why they won't pay out. It's fab that you're on track to follow your dream
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
  • Thanks SA, it may take me quite a few more years but will stay on track.

Considering I had 2 meals out last week and nachos at the cinema I still managed to lose 1/2 pound. Pleased with that but want to get a decent amount off this week, no meals out planned so this should be doable.

Managed 5 AFD's last week, and aiming for the same this week. Have our weekly skittles match on Thursday but will drive and stay on the soda water.

So I went over my budget by about £10 for the month of Feb. Pleased with that as being the first month I wasn't sure how I would do. I have decided to allocate 50% of my income to all household bills, rent etc. Then 25% to savings and 25% to my weekly spends such as fuel, food and going out etc. I will have spare money in my household bills pot which will go towards paying my DMP. I have given myself 6 months to sort out paying off all my creditors and then aim to be debt free.

I have an appointment to get my eyes checked today, so a no spend day not on the cards today. Will enjoy a browse around the shops and may even spend using the gift cards I was given for Christmas, but only if I see something worth buying. I do need trainers so will try and find a good deal.
