Sir Greg Knight's parking bill

Totally agreed, this is the way forward. In person hearings for free with a NAMED assessor who is fully impartial, or better still, Sir Bargepole deciding on the cases! :TThe next logical step will be a single, genuinely independent appeals process for all private parking issues. Once that happens, it is difficult to see that either of ATAs will have a significant role to play.
That used by LAs seems to work well. I appealed a ticket a few months ago and the adjudicator allowed in on a point which I had not even raised.
I was rather put out as my defence was entirely centred around the EA 2010.If you were not the driver write to the parking firm and tell them who was so they CANNOT hold you liable. The person who was driving the car is responsible so let them deal with it. Not you! Don’t let people with an agenda tell you otherwise.0 -

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Instead they seem to be deciding that it has a place in modern society. Are they utterly craven? I am also worried that the English are trying to impose their half baked changes on the people of Scotland. We haven’t asked for this so why is it being imposed on us instead of waiting for Murdo’s consultation to close?
Once a private parking code is “on the book” (not just keeper liability) then that’s it, full legitimacy. It’s never being stopped. A “levy” will mean that the government are enjoying the spoils of parking firms and will defend them tooth and nail to keep the cash flowing. We need to fight this tooth and nail. If it was the SNP or Labour behind this then I would feel much better, but does anyone trust that the Tories will do anything to harm their mates at Capita?
If the BPA are all for this then we know we must fight it. An IPC newsletter was posted on Facebook fight your invoice group and they are also supporting it.

as of November private parking will be banned ,

on a side note , the due diligence shown by SKY NEWS means a diffent MP is now handling it (not)
https://news.sky.com/story/government-to-back-clampdown-on-dodgy-parking-operators-11225967Communities Secretary Sajid Javid has confirmed he will back a bill brought by former minister Sir Greg Hands which seeks to provide "fair, clear and consistent" regulation in the parking industry, and allow a clampdown on "unscrupulous and aggressive" parking operators.

Ryan, your signature is misleading and should be deleted. There are many occasions where a Keeper should not dob the driver to the PPC.
My wife picked up two PCNs, should I tell the PPC who was driving? Why.
Also, many of the people who are ticketed may struggle to fight it? Surely, in these cases, it is better dealt with by a more acute keeper.
Some years ago the memsahib picked up a couple of tickets in quick succession. I replied in my usual deferential way and the matter was dropped. Why should I have grassed her up.You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
