DONT DO IT!!!!!!!
stay with the dumb phone crew. Lost of people don't have a smart phone and manage just fine.
I for example have a Nokia 3310. on a talk and text only package I pay £5 per month, I can do everything I need on the laptop and...... I can switch off from Facebook/twitter/emails/everything once the laptop closes and/or I leave the house. Plus it has snake, the best mobile phone game EVER!!!!!!
I have had an iPhone in the past, the battery dies after 24hrs (mostly less), its bigger than a dumb phone and easier to break, its more expensive in terms of tariffs and its too easy to go over your internet allowance.
Of course I'm not telling you what to do, I just want you to know that you are not alone in not having a smart phone and actually a lot of millennial are ditching the smartphones in favour of a dumb phone.
Im 33 and my friends say I'm crazy, but their £60 per month phone contract tells me different.
hope this helps :-)Just a single mum, working full time, bit of a nutcase, but mostly sensible, wanting to be Mortgage free by 2035 or less!0 -

Neither of which is true, I pay £5 a month and have plenty of call, text & data allowance.
To the OP, don't go into a shop and ask for an 'internet phone' though as they may well laughThey're called smartphones.

Have a look in the window of Game or CEX. Don't buy an iPhone 4 or 4s though, as these are pretty much obsolete. 5 and 5s are going to be the same very soon. Also older iPhones will have had a lot of use and their batteries will not be as good as a newer model.
I would buy a phone within your budget, then trawl the internet for a suitable SIM only deal. Three Mobile are very good, but there's all sorts out there.I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Don't let the Samsung lovers hear that! There are two main distinct camps, iPhone (Apple) owners and Samsung owners, both of whom will diss the other due to their personal preferences. There's also many other brands with equally good products, which you may find more to your liking.

I did not know you could get a package without all this pesky data. OH thought he was going to have to buy a new phone when his contract ran out as the price was going to double and two of the four networks seem incapable of providing a SIM to fit his steam-driven phone. Of course, in their vernacular, his phone would not fit their SIMSs. Always blame the customer.
In the end, he took said ancient artefact into a well-known supermarket where, lo and behold, he found they can provide antique SIMs to fit even his prehistoric handset... Every little helps.0 -

An iPhone (capital P) is just a brand name for Apple's smartphones, if you ask for an iPhone rather than a smartphone they'll try and sell you an iPhone only which while very nice are very expensive.
Set yourself a budget firstly, £100 will buy you a decent smartphone.
I presume you already have a mobile complete with SIM card?0 -
Perhaps have a look at the new Nokia 3 or 5. If you go into a phone shop you will be able to try them out and see if they meet your needs.
