Does anyone know how you pay the 20% tax once you hit £1000 on surveys for the year.

I cashed 350 from prolific on April 7th so I didn't have to pay tax last year and am close to 1000 now.

Do I wait until next April and pay the tax in full for the previous year.  or do I pay it monthly from now or what.
Also do I need to fill in any forms

Mine is the same, although I haven’t yet been back into the prolific assistant to check if there’s any settings I need to play with.

I've checked, there don't appear to be any settings that you can alter, although the description on the app still says about the audible alert. Looking at the reviews somebody else moaned back in May about the audio disappearing.
At the bottom of the extension's dialog, in the middle, there should be a Settings tab, where you can set the alert sound and volume. Is that not working for you?

You contact hmrc and tell them you have earnings in this area over £1000 so need to complete a tax return. You include the earnings in your tax return, submitted by 31 January 2026 for earnings in year ending April 2025. You have to pay the tax due by the same date (31/1/26). In the following year hmrc may adjust your tax code so that you pay through your tax code in your main work, assuming you have that. Or they may ask you to make 2 payments, one by 31  July and one by 31 January.

You haven’t actually earned the money until you cash out, so you can manipulate the earning date if you want.

HMRC may or may not come calling. The difference now is that at the start of the year prolific indicated that they may be sharing that information, which is a change to previously.
If you have not told HMRC about income - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

If they did, they are very unlikely to post about it here!

So far, I've had 49 of this; reported, reported, reported and still they keep on coming:

Only Building and Grounds Cleaning and Maintenance Occupations Workers needed for ability assessment

I don't see any grounds to report them - they are not underpaying, and each one has such a low limit on places that they disappear pretty quickly.  I clicked on "Not Interested" for the first set I saw, but each set is looking for different occupational groups and they will soon run out!
