Just wondering if anyone has ever actually got one of those bonuses from a study where they say they will select 'two' lucky participants, or however many, and these people will receive the bonus.  I'm sure they pay up, but it's never been me!
Yes. Had £10 once, also a double bonus for 10% of participants in another.

    A study about public opinion

    By Bai Luo
    £0.25 • £1.78/hr 8minutes.
Why on earth are prolific letting these through?
And more to the point, why are people still completing them?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • I did a.surbey this morning and there was an attention check on a phrase that was used during a video for plastic in the sea.  There were 3 phrases to choose from and all were very similar I chose the wrong one and got asked to return the survey.

Whats my rights here, I was about 75% through the survey

See https://researcher-help.prolific.com/en/article/fb63bb.  Note in particular where it says:
"Please note that any IMCs using video or audio format are subject to the same guidance as text-based checks. For example, the guidance of 'they must be easy to read' should be interpreted as easy to see on the video or easy to hear in an audio check. If these types of checks are used it is particularly important to ensure that memory recall is not required (i.e., the audio/video must be presented at the same time as the question)."

I had the same study. Surely If you watched the video you would have known which answer was correct?

I don't know about anyone else, but I can easily watch a video and remember the gist of it without remembering what specific phrases might have been used in it.

Attention checks are never allowed to rely on memory - that is clearly stated in the link which I posted above.
