I just got a study rejected for “taking too long”, which is definitely against the rules as I didn’t time out.

Ive complained so await their response…

It was typing recaptcha codes. Some of them the codes weren't showing on my screen, don't know whether this was down to the age of my computer or their software. Did anybody else have blank or nearly blank codes?

Yes, Slinky, I had that one.  Some of the recaptcha codes were very pale, but not all.  I struggled with them.   Then I progressed to part 2 and failed the comprehension check.  I was advised to Return the Study and submit the completion code I was given to receive £3 participation for the part I had completed.

Some of the recaptcha codes, even the ones in bold print, were really difficult to type in, in the very limited time allowed.

I Returned the Study, as advised, and, as there was no place to enter the Completion Code, I sent a message to The Researcher with the Completion Code.  The Researcher thanked me for my time.

Well if it's any consulation, my bonus was £1. I don't think it's really possible to get £10 as the bonus appears to be on the total number of letters you get right and a bonus which is split between two people and on which they have to agree the split. The other person and myself got near identical scores and agreed to split the £2 we were offered. To get £10 you'd have to get most if not all right, the other person do really badly, and they'd have to agree that you got all the bonus, as far as I could work it out.

I messaged the researcher about the near blank ones and they said they would investigate. I couldn't even hazard a guess what they may have been so got nil scores on about 5 or 6

I did it. Didn’t do particularly well because to start with I didn’t realise that the cursor wasn’t automatically in the box so I was typing away and nothing was happening then I couldn’t find half of the symbols on my keyboard in time.
Ended up with a £1.50 bonus after I’d shared it with the other person. It was so close. I just agreed to the 50-50 without quibbling.
I did think the bonus description was a tad misleading, as Slinky said.

I'm clearly having a bit of a "moment" but I cannot find out how to contact  prolific about a study I completed last week. The researcher has asked me to return it because I did withdrew consent (untrue) or I failed to finish the study (also untrue). There's another study I've had issue with as well. Can anyone tell me how to contact prolific?

In the bottom right-hand corner of the page is a link to a chatbot;  you can give it a quick account of the problem and ask it to put you through to a human, I think.

Thanks for posting this elsien it's reassuring to know I wasn't the only one who had issues with the cursor and trouble finding some of the symbols on the keyboard.  You have more staying power than me I got into such a state I returned it before finishing the first part.  I did contact the researcher to explain my reasons but didn't receive any message back which is unusual as most make the effort to reply.

UPDATE The researcher awarded me a bonus payment of £2 for the study.  As I didn't even finish the first section and returned it I thought this was very kind of them.

    A study on human-chatbot interaction

Did anyone else have problems with this one? Initially it wasn't loading at all, and I messaged the researcher to tell them so, but when they messaged me back to say it was working now, I still couldn't proceed beyond the first page. I messaged the researcher again, and they just said it had been tried and should work. I tried it in different browsers, and in a new browser profile with no addons, and still couldn't progress. Eventually I returned it, having spent a considerable time trying to get it to work, and messaged the researcher again telling them what error was showing in my browser console. This was a couple of hours ago and I have not heard back from them again yet.

I found the "submit a request" link in the help centre but it didn't appear until I clicked on the menu button at the top right corner. Request submitted yesterday, resolved early this morning.

I didn't realise that I'd progressed from practice to actual survey answers.

You did well to get £1.50 bonus. I can touch type but my problem was being unable to see 5-6 of them so would have missed out on 25-30 characters automatically. I scored 130, my 'partner' got 137 and we split £2 evenly.

I picked this up yesterday evening.

The time to do it appealed to me,  but as I clicked in, it told me the survey would last at least 60 minutes.  I returned it and then reported it.  I reported it also on the basis of the warning that one attention check fail would mean loss of compensation.  I have messaged the researcher and sent them the link to the attention check criteria.  More people should report these studies that clearly flout the T&C regarding attention checks.
