Prolific Academic Survey Alerts

Well my average is only 88p per survey. I hardly ever do a survey longer than about 10 minutes, intentionally. But for me the relevant metric isn't the average pay per survey but the average pay per hour, and quite often the longer ones aren't such good payers, or at least are riskier in the sense that they might take longer than advertised.

Yes, come to think of it we know Prolific tracks the time people take to complete a study as they show average completion time; it would be handy if the submissions page would show each user their total time spent on studies, so we could work out what overall average hourly pay rates we are achieving.

TBH, I'm not too bothered what my average is or how long they take. If I have the spare time and wasn't planning on doing anything else, then I will do whatever pops up. For me its all about making some extra money.Making the debt go down and savings go up

Acoustics and emotion (headphones required, Chrome browser, 15-25 minutes, £10/hour payment)
Anyone manage to get through the audio test on this one? It was one of those "which of these three tones is quietest" things, which I normally get through with no difficulty, but I couldn't tell any difference between the volume of the three tones in this case.

Watch movies and ads in our lab in London
By Daniel Richardson£5.00 • £10.00/hr30 mins11 placesThis experiment takes place IN PERSON on Friday 31st March in our laboratory in London. Please only sign up if you are willing and able to come to our labs at UCL, located in Bloomsbury, near Russell Square station. If you are interested, you'll be taken to a sign up page where you can pick a half hour slot that is convenient to you.
In the experiment on the day, you will be taken to a cubicle, where you'll be watching short movies and ads on the computer. You'll wear a physiological sensor on your finger, a bit like a fitbit, that will measure you heart rate and skin conductance. After 30 mins, you will receive a completion code that you can then use to get rewarded £5 on the prolific system.
The payment for this one is utterly ridiculous. £5 for half an hour, fine, but add journey time to that, so probably at least a couple of hours out of my day, and it'd cost me more than £5 to get there and back. They need to offer higher pay rates for in-person studies. Add travel expenses at the very least. 2 hours out of my day and it'll end up costing me more than it pays? No thanks. I've done similar in-person studies before (not via Prolific) and they usually pay at least £40-50. I wouldn't take less than £25 for this one.
Even if you live in London you’d end up paying at least £3 just to get there and back on the tube.1 -

£3.20 each way on the tube (assuming off-peak times). You'd have to take the bus just to avoid losing money, and even that would leave you with only £1.50 of your £5 payment.

I did a study the other day and it said during that if halfway through the other participant disconnects, you get a £2 partial payment.
The study is currently “awaiting review” but the researcher has added a £2 bonus payment to the original reward of £4.50.
I got the message below
“Hi there, I just sent you the partial payment. You can now return the study "Academic study".”
Surely if I return the study it would lead to the reward disappearing?0 -

The bonus payment won't go anywhere.
