  • There seems to still be the approval backlog. I stopped doing them over the weekend as I had to return several for technical issues but just tried another and the study portal was stable again. Still no auto approval. Pretty frustrating tbh, I do them properly (ie stay in at least the full hour) but I'm starting to lose a bit of faith in them
  • I did one this morning that got approved immediately, but another I did this afternoon is still awaiting approval. All last week's are still waiting as well.
  • I've only been on Prolific for a few months, is there a "etiquette" to chasing researchers over this sort of thing, or do you just have to let things run their course?
  • I'm reluctant to do any more. As I don't want to risk my account getting locked for having an usually high balance once it is approved. Or cashing it out after approval to have issues with PayPal.

Reviewers get 22 days to review studies, after which they get approved automatically. Probably best not to chase them up, in case they get annoyed and blacklist you from doing further studies with them.

It used to be very rare to get immediate approval.  Most researchers would, I think, do all their approvals at once when their study was complete, and that could be anything from 7 to 21 days.  But as Vintage67 says, Prolific themselves always put through the approval if the researcher hasn't done it in 21 days.  It is a pleasant change to get as many immediate approvals as there are this year.

I had a response from PA and they say they know there is an issue with balance not showing correctly.  Should be sorted in a few days.

In case some are worried that it's all a bit wonky at the moment, I've had a decent couple of days, balances showing OK, cash out immediate when I've gone for it, and no real problems. Only slight fault is that I've sometimes had to do a hard refresh having reserved a study to progress it to the next screen. Or a hard refresh on desktop to get the balance to update. Neither are major issues

You're not going to have you account locked just for having a high balance.

The only issue with having a high balance is that when it's cashed out, it may not go through as an instant payment as anything over about £250 gets held for fraud checks so won't get paid until the next manual payment day.
