Just had two studies refuse me to go beyond the description page due to a "PEC-SUB-0002" error
"PEC-SUB-0002: We are sorry but we could not create your submission at this time. This may be due to your current network connection."
linked help page suggest it's an IP ban (it's been totally fine right up to today with the same isp, I don't use a VPN or anything similar when using Prolific, only thing I can think of that they might find suspicious is that I might've recently done a survey while using my phone as a hotspot, instead of my normal wifi, but they seem to say that's ok *confused shrug*)

    https://participant-help.prolific.co/hc/en-gb/articles/360012393100-PEC-Error#heading-0
    "PEC-SUB-0002
    What does it mean?
Your IP address has been flagged by our system. We run multiple checks with IPs that include checking if the IP has been reported on other websites. You won't be able to take studies from that IP address for now but IPs are regularly reviewed so it could be unflagged in future.

    What can I do?
Try to get a new IP address by resetting your router, or contacting your internet service provider. On mobile devices you may be able to get a new IP address by restarting the device.
Turn off any VPNs and proxies from your browser/device while on Prolific.
Access Prolific from a different internet connection (mobile hotspot, a friend's house).
Note: Your account hasn't been placed on hold and you can still cash out your rewards."

I had problems with Prolific refusing my IP address a few years ago.  I am with Plusnet, and some of their IP addresses are located in France.  So I bought a fixed IP address from them for a fiver, one which is based in the UK, and have had no problems since.  You could check the geolocation of your IP address at https://www.iplocation.net/, and it it is not in the UK you could ask your ISP to make sure that you always have a UK IP in future.  Of course, if you have a dynamic IP address you only need to turn your router off for a while, and when you turn it on again you will have a different IP.

Which error code?  404, or something else?  (It's working fine for me, by the way, but is maybe a little slow.)

Tried this one but Firefox said it was trying to track my location which I rejected, then it gave error messages in Japanese so I had to return it.

I had exactly the same - I refused the location tracking and was redirected to some other site, so promptly closed browser and returned the study. Too much hassle for the sake of 20p.

It was error code 406. No idea what that means. Anyway, I have finally managed to log in. Very quiet on there though, in fact its been very quiet for me since Christmas. Thought it would pick up a bit by now.   Not many coming through and mostly very low paying, apart from the AI one I had the other day.

Interesting - "406 Not Acceptable" is a very unusual error code - one that you may never see again!  There must have been some kind of serious glitch with the Prolific servers, or (more likely) with one of them, since others did not encounter this error.  You can read all about it at https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Status/406.

Site's totally fine and letting me do surveys again now (weird).

Bit odd that a survey from oregonstate.edu was encouraging people to sign up for a British Extinction Rebellion mass protest  (va a link to ER's site).

eta: Survey approved & rewarded almost instantly though.

All the other surveys I got popups for had vanished/saying full by the time (just a few minutes later)  I visited the page
