  • Evaluate portraits

This study will take about 30 minutes of your time. You will be asked to evaluate a number of portraits on several dimensions.

You are required to work on a desktop and to use a modern browser (Internet Explorer will not work) in an updated version to participate.

I just began this study but it disappointingly screened me out and the study was automatically returned, stating I was using an incompatible device.

I am using a Dell laptop with Firefox 105.0 and the requirement is for a desktop, which I find slightly odd, but just beware of that requirement.

This was a good one, pretty close on time and I was promised a decent bonus. Needs focus.

Walking in images: learning and recognising switches in a stream of images

The aim of this study is to understand we are able to quickly recognise situations and contexts from certain cues.

In this study you will learn to order five images according to two orderings. In the second part, you will be shown a sequence of pictures that follows either one or the other ordering and your task is to tell us which one it is.

You have the chance for winning a bonus payment for good performance. The exact pay-off scheme will be described in the instructions for the second part.

At the end we will ask a couple questions about demographics, and, as we are interested in improving this task, for your feedback.

There is nothing unusual or uncomfortable, but the second part demands continuous attention (although there is the chance to rest throughout). You need to be able to learn a sequence of 5 pictures to avoid having your submission rejected (but there are plenty of chances and this should not be challenging if you are trying).

You will receive the rewards and potential bonus payments within a couple days of doing the task.

My rejection has been overturned and changed to a returned survey. Not been paid but I didn’t expect to be anyway.

This is a study of the University of Amsterdam on decision making. You will read instructions, answer comprehension and demographic questions, complete tasks, and take some decisions.

    This study has two sessions:

    - Today (27 minutes)

    - On Thursday 29/09 (4 minutes). You need to complete this second session between 7am and 10pm, London and Dublin time.

You need to complete both sessions for your submission to be approved. The total completion reward for the two sessions will be GBP 3.75.

NOTE: We do not use deception. Every information we will give you in the instructions is true.

I found part one of this study very testing as there are instructions to be remembered with test questions after each section.

Luckily there is an unlimited number of chances (until you time out) to get the answers correct, which I did eventually and you can review the instructions again if you need to (I did).

It took me almost 50 minutes to complete, even when keeping notes, but it was a bit of fun with the potential for a £3 bonus at the end of the second session.

I had to go back and re-read the instructions a couple of times to get all the questions right. But I'm confident that I'll get the bonus (£2 or £3, randomly selected), because part two in 5 days time will involve remembering some information given in part one, and they said I could use any means I liked to remember the information so I chose to use the means of making a note of it.

I also made notes. I lost time on this as I kept getting one question wrong and had to go back, in the end I changed one at a time from true to false until it was all correct.

Yes I have kept a note of the information required as well, so unless i loose it, should be alright for the bonus.

I did this one on Thursday when it was numbered D007.

Got a message today (hopefully this issue will have been ironed out by the time you did it):

Dear participant, As some of you have reported, during the study on Thursday, there was a technical problem with our server. The problem was such that we are not able to use your data in our analysis. For this reason we cannot invite you to the second session of the study anymore. However, we have already approved your submission to the first session. We are sorry for the inconvenience and for the late notice. Unfortunately it took some time to identify which participants were affected by the problem and which ones can still be invited to the second session.
