I persevered with this Study  in Firefox Browser (as required) although it was always slow to move on to the next (20 rounds in total) round in the Study.  After round 8 a Gateway error  ("504 Gateway Time out.") showed up and I was not able to proceed.

I tried refreshing the page and contacting the Researcher but, after 30+ minutes and additional time hoping to hear from the Researcher, I eventually Returned the Study.

Has anyone else done this Study and managed to completion without a Gateway error?  Although it seems to be a technical problem  I can't think of any other reason.
Yes I did this study - although for me it was at 11:00 this morning.  I also used Firefox but I had no errors.  It worked well for me and quick.  No bonus though.  It was one of those that said it would randomly pick a round and if you had won money in that round it would be paid as a bonus and surprise surprise it picked the round where no money had been won.
    I did this one too.

    I promise I’m not making this up…

I pretended I picked the same number as the other participant on 19 rounds (therefore ‘won’ money) and a different number on 1 round (therefore no money won)

What happened… it “randomly” picked the 1 round where no money was won.

I was honest 4 times when the guy said lower numbers 1 and 2 to minimise my loss.
Yep they "randomly" selected one of these so no extra pay for me.

I wonder if they actually pay the bonus when you lie for all 20.
Of course they will "randomly" select when both parties say 1.
It is always the case on these studies that dishonesty pays.

Out of 20 there was actually only 1 match.
I think the game is rigged to make you lie anyway.

I lied for all 20 rounds and not surprisingly it randomly selected a round where it was 1.

Recruitment and Job Ads: What do people notice?

In this study, you will view a series of job advertisements. Following each one, you will be asked to answer a few questions about the ad to test aspects of what you remember and your interest in the job. Finally, you will also be asked about general activities that you enjoy doing.

Logged on at 7.00 am Sunday morning and this study was waiting.  The description above is pretty much it, there are six job adverts in total to remember the details of.

Nothing too demanding, but it took me 19 mins according to the stopwatch because I had the usual problem that I get with Qualtrics hosted studies in that some of the pages 'stuck' and a box kept popping up stating there was no internet connection when there was, most likely a server problem.

Talking about events and our emotions – Part One

PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO COMPLETE THIS STUDY WITHOUT A WORKING CAMERA AND MICROPHONE. This will be tested before you can take part in the study. Please also be aware that you may be asked to talk about a negative past experience as part of the study.

All participants will take part in a single study session lasting approximately 15 minutes. If you are happy to take part, you will be asked to recall a recent event (which could be positive, negative or neutral) and reflect on your memory of the event. You will also be asked to video record yourself describing the recalled memory for 2 minutes. You will also be asked to complete some questionnaires about your personality, emotions, and emotion regulation as part of the study.

Please make sure that during the video and audio recording you are in a quiet and private area, with your face clearly visible by the camera. If your video recording quality is low because your face is not visible or the background noise is too loud, we will not be able to use your data and you may be excluded from the study.

No good for me as the laptop that I use for Prolific does not have a web cam and even if I did it sounds like a lot of work for £2.00, considering you may get excluded if they decide your video is of low quality.

But no doubt some will have a suitable well lit quiet environment and confident enough of video and sound quality to give it a go.

I lied 20 times (well, told the truth when there was an actual match). The "randomly selected" round was also one of the many £1 matches for me too, but fair enough, I was cheating so I don't see why they shouldn't too! The average of the numbers rolled was signicantly below the expected average (NB I haven't tested this statistically, but eyeballing it I would think it was at the 95% confidence level that it wasn't 'fair').

Has anyone seen any studies today? I haven't seen a single one, which is unsual from my, admittedly brief, time on Prolific
  • It's almost the same for me, gdv4000.  One appeared very briefly and I clicked straight away but it was already full.  Apart from that I have not seen any other studies at all today.

Nothing for me today either. I assume August is a slower month than most because of holidays and all that

I did a £2 one then had another one for about £2.50 which I had to return because it was for healthcare professionals and I didn't fit the demographic.
Might be because I've had a few days when I've been too busy to look at prolific so the algorithm is happy to send a few more my way.
