Be careful.  If you earn more than £1000 in a year from survey sites, you have to declare it to HMRC.  See https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/family/make-money-surveys/.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of that. Does that apply even if my overall income is below the tax threshold? I'd better check out the regulations later.

It is because it counts as income from self-employment;  I guess that selling things on eBay or whatever would count as well.  Martin says, in the article I linked to above:

Survey earnings are technically self-employed income, as you are being paid for a service you provide, even though that 'service' is in the form of providing data for the survey company.

The trading allowance introduced from 6 April 2017 essentially means you no longer have to report the first £1,000 you earn from self-employment or selling goods 'for profit'. Therefore if not already registered as self-employed, you won't need to do so if earning less than a grand from survey sites.

If you're earning over £1,000 from survey sites, you'll need to declare it to HMRC, regardless of whether you're self-employed or PAYE. It told us everyone must do this by registering for Self Assessment, if not already registered, and filling in a tax return. If PAYE, HMRC says it can collect your tax bill through a change to your tax code, providing you meet specific criteria.

If you're self-employed with total income over £1,000, if you earn just £1 from survey sites, HMRC appears to say you'll need to declare it. HMRC told us: "If an individual has combined gross income of more than £1,000 from their self-employment trades in a tax year, they must report this to HRMC."

The purpose of this study is to investigate the role that motivations play in the degree and frequency of mind wandering experienced when watching a video. It is difficult for people to keep attention during online videos, in part because peoples’ minds start to wander as a video progresses. It is possible that motivational factors influence this phenomenon. We will recruit up to 200 participants for this study and each session will take around 50 minutes to complete. Participants will start by answering a few questions and completing a simple psychological test. They will then watch a 34 minute video on the topic of mathematical theory. During the video they will be randomly asked questions about their mind wandering experiences.

Woke up to an e-mail from Jim directing me to this one.  I thought to myself 'I have time, lets give it a go', but no, when I click the 'start study' button I get 'The researcher has paused the study'.

Refreshed the page a few times but still the same.

Just move on, studies are like buses, if you miss one, another will be along soon.

Label high quality messages from an AI

Thank you for taking the time to review this study. We appreciate your help.

    Summary

In this study, you will be asked to review conversations between users and an AI. Your goal is to identify high quality responses from the AI. When you identify a high quality message, you will select labels which describe why the message is high quality.

The task will be completed in the Pie Platform and instructions will be shared with participants once you sign-up to the study.

You will be asked to review 10 conversations, each containing ~15 messages from the AI.

This one has been hanging around for a while.  I am far too busy today to attempt this length of study, though I have completed a couple of very short ones.

I've just done this one. But I got to the end of the 10 conversations to be labelled then there was no completion code and automatic transfer back to Prolific. I've messaged the researcher and submitted as NOCODE but hope it's OK as I've just spent an hour on this one.

I was busy completing this unaware there was an issue was about 25 minutes in when I received the message
Please return this study, we will kick off a new study once the issue has been fixed. Sorry for the inconvience.
I was a bit frustrated as it seemed to be working fine for me was even more so when I noticed
You returned your submission for Label high quality messages from an AI no I did not
I then got a notification of the study being available again was going to give it a miss as I had already wasted 25 minutes on it but as it was high paying I decided to give it another try was really pleased when it started were I had left off so it all worked out well in the end,

I just completed that one.  It was interesting, but the instructions were not absolutely clear, and  I found that some conversations were repeated while some got missed out, and I had to run back with Previous to find the ones I had not seen.  And at the end, the completion link was way out of sight at the top of the page - I had been expecting it near the Next button!

Ah, I must have missed the completion link then as I couldn't see it at all. Hope I do still get paid though. They should have my data because I was able to log out of the Pie system and log back in again (I tried that before submitting with NOCODE in case that triggered a code) and all my responses were still there.

Did you label every single message? Only after that did the link to the completion code appear.
