  • Been a dry few weeks for me just a few here and there seemed to spring back to life yesterday but by the time I had clicked on them most were already full  :(
Hopefully pick up as others have said when the universities return after summer break,

Just had a £1 survey that I was eligible for and didn’t miss. Will hope that it’s the start of things getting more back to normal.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

It has been the driest time for me ever on Prolific for months now.  Were it not for the very infrequent, always full, study alerts I would imagine my account frozen as well but, if there has been a sudden influx of participants, it is no wonder things have become harder for all of us.

I second the emotion that it was good while it lasted but it is hardly worth bothering with now.  What a shame as it really was the best survey site for quite a while.
  • Out of interest, how much do people usually receive in a month if they check in every day? I have only been a member for a few days and have received about £9. Not sure whether that is about average or not.

I probably miss a lot of studies. I have them on in the background when I’m working but can’t take the time to do long better paying studies in work time, I need them to coincide with a break.
I also rarely check them at evening and weekends - too busy doing other things.
On that basis (and their protocol that slows things down if you are doing lots together) I tend to think I’m doing well if I average £30 a month.

  • Thanks v much. I work full time so am not going to be checking that much in the day (though did today when having lunch). Sounds as if £9 in a week is reasonable going then.

Like you, I only signed up for the site a few days ago (Saturday 4 September, to be precise), j having seen reference on another forum.  I also work and look at available studies in breaks. I may have been lucky because for relatively little effort I have £34.49 with another £11.45 awaiting approval.  My demographic "may" help but a 58 year-old bloke is not normally what researchers look for....

I have completed some really interesting studies, one paid £7.50 for assessing whether random displayed fruits were poisonous or not; I'm sure there must have been a point to it!

I'll see how it goes and continue to look at this thread as I now know of it.
  • You are all very lucky, I think.  It seems to be the case, from experience, that the newer you are, the more surveys you receive.  I have been doing this for over five years and this is the worst summer ever.  I used to average £5 per week, sometimes more but have had nothing for nearly a fortnight.  I just wish the only outstanding one would cough up; at least then I could stop looking at it.

Has anyone any idea whether the Google alert thingy does not work if you decline to let them track "how you are using the site"?  I think Google invade my privacy more than enough already but I tried using DuckDuckGo instead and the alert did not work then, either.
  • The alerts work for a while but they aren't very reliable. The only decent one I have had recently was because I was literally on site when it popped up. Hopefully they will start becoming more frequent soon.
  • Wow £7.50 for one study sounds pretty good. Most of the ones I have been offered have been less than a pound and often don't seem especially well deisgned. One today was 8p! I have had a couple of longer and more interesting ones that offer around £2 with a £1 bonus depending on answers but nothing as good as that.
