    And the OP's g/f has a duty of care to use the lights according to the instructions, and not switch them on before attaching them to the tree.
    How much of a shock can you get off a 12V Xmas tree light circuit anyway? The amperage is tiny.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    None. The op also accuses this branch as being well known for selling on used goods. This could be harmful to the store unless he has proof

    Workers could lose their jobs due to this potential libel. The company could lose money.

    Should they sue because of what could happen due to unfounded allegations?

    Whilst slightly obtuse that’s my point. The op is complaining about what could have happened.

    Launching court actions on could haves and hypotheticals starts getting silly.
